Boeing Commercial Airplane (BCA) Customer Support - System Service Engineering (SSE) Team is seeking a 737NG/MAX Systems Service Engineering Senior Manager to lead the 737 NG/MAX model team in Seal Beach, California. This will consist of airplane level Systems (including Avionics, Electrical, Mechanical and Propulsion Systems) for 737NG/MAX supporting in-service issues while developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, industry partners, and global teammates. You will be an integral part of the BCA team in the Customer Support Organization. As a Senior Manager, you will be applying your engineering experience to drive resolution of technical issues and provide oversight/accountability for other Boeing engineering organizations.
The Systems SE Senior Manager will acquire resources for department activities and lead process improvements. You will develop and administrate the budgets, schedules and performance standards, oversee approval of technical approaches, products and processes; and manage, develop and motivate employees. The position will require some travel to integrate with program leaders, customers, suppliers and other organizations.
The Systems SE Senior Manager position is fast paced and requires an individual with excellent communication and relationship-building skills, ability to think strategically interact with diverse cultures, and work on variable shifts. It also requires quick reactions, resilience, and adaptability.
Position Responsibilities:
- Manages employees and first-level managers performing activities within multiple Engineering disciplines for the assigned model
- Develops and manages strong relationships with the Program and Fleet Chief Office team to ensure prioritization and alignment on fleet issues and messaging to customers; Ensures integrated operating rhythm across the stakeholder organizations
- Leads the team through complex technical challenges, products and processes, budget development and administration, schedules and performance standards, and develops and motivates employees
- Regularly interacts with other Customer Support organizations including Field Service, Maintenance Engineering, Fleet Chief Office, as well as Design Engineering, U.S. and International Commercial Customers / Suppliers, and Regulatory Agencies
- Develops and executes integrated departmental plans, policies and procedures and provides input on departmental business and technical strategies, goals, objectives
- Acquires resources for department activities, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements
- Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports
- Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes; Manages, develops and motivates employees and first-level managers
- Ability to travel 10% of the time
- Ability to quickly adapt to customer needs; support off hour meetings/calls
- Ability to work and function in a 24x7 by 365 operational environment
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work on-site at one of the listed location options.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering or science related discipline
- 2+ years of experience as a Manager leading engineering teams
- 3+ years of experience working with internal or external stakeholders (e.g. business partners, airline customers, finance, external suppliers, etc.) and interfacing with executive leadership
- 5+ years of engineering experience in the aerospace industry working on or in support of commercial airplanes
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing complex projects from conception to completion
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Master's degree or higher
- Flexibility, adaptability working with a variable work statement and in a dynamic environment.
- Must be a self-starter, adept at leading projects and influencing people across multiple organizations.
- Fosters a healthy, creative, and productive team environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of innovative solutions in engineering challenges
- Experience acting as a technical interface with suppliers, airline operators and working cross functionally and across business units
- Excellent project management skills, with strong attention to detail and organization abilities
- Experience in a customer service/support role

Summary Pay Range: $181,900 - $246,100
