Job Overview
Komatsu invites applications for the pivotal role of Technical Services Manager based in Elko, Nevada. This position leads the dedicated Field Services team focused on underground mining operations, rope shovel maintenance, and specialized technical services. As a key leader within the Parts and Service division, you will play an essential role in ensuring peak operational efficiency, rigorous safety compliance, and exceptional service delivery tailored to meet the dynamic needs of customers in the mining industry. You will be entrusted with managing an annual budget of approximately $6 million, overseeing a skilled team comprising 25 hourly staff and 2 exempt leaders. Key Job Responsibilities
- Leadership and Team Development: Provide effective management and mentorship to supervisors and technicians within underground mining, rope shovel operations, and technical service groups, fostering a culture of continuous learning and high performance.
- Champion Safety Excellence: Uphold and promote Komatsu’s commitment to zero-harm by enforcing strict safety standards, conducting regular safety audits and training, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory guidelines relevant to mining activities.
- Operational Strategy and Execution: Lead comprehensive planning and coordination efforts to optimize scheduling, deployment of resources, and execution of critical projects, sustaining service-level agreements and maximizing equipment uptime.
- Financial Oversight: Manage departmental budgets rigorously, implement robust cost controls, analyze financial performance indicators, and ensure efficient allocation of resources to balance cost-effectiveness with service quality.
- Customer-Centric Collaboration: Work closely with account managers and direct customer contacts to anticipate service needs, resolve issues promptly, and build long-term trust and satisfaction through transparent communication.
- Talent Management: Drive initiatives that support employee recruitment, retention, and professional development pathways, including succession planning to strengthen team stability and expertise.
- Stakeholder Partnership: Collaborate with Komatsu America Corp (KAC) leadership and cross-functional teams to align service strategies and share best practices across business units enhancing overall enterprise effectiveness.
- Continuous Process Improvement: Identify operational inefficiencies or opportunities for innovation; lead efforts to implement cutting-edge methodologies and technologies that boost productivity and elevate service standards.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Minimum requirement of a High School Diploma or equivalent; possession of a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or related technical field is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated 10+ years of progressive experience in mining operations, heavy equipment management, or related technical services, including at least 5 years in a managerial or leadership capacity overseeing diverse teams.
- Proven ability in budgeting, operational planning, and managing complex service delivery frameworks within large-scale industrial environments.
- Exceptional communication skills with aptitude for engaging multiple stakeholders, fostering collaborative partnerships, and delivering clear, actionable feedback.
- In-depth knowledge of mining regulatory frameworks such as MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) and DOT (Department of Transportation), alongside familiarity with relevant technical systems and software.
- Preferred qualifications include hands-on experience managing underground and rope shovel maintenance operations, advanced technical certifications, and proficiency in enterprise systems such as SAP and Salesforce.

Physical Demands and Travel Expectations
- Capacity to lift and carry up to 50 pounds safely; ability to perform duties in challenging outdoor mining environments subject to weather variations, terrain, and operational conditions.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% of work time to various mine sites domestically, with occasional international travel to attend meetings, training sessions, or strategic collaboration events.
