The Warehouse Specialist performs a variety of warehousing duties that require an understanding of the establishment’s storage plan. Verify material/merchandise against receiving documents, identify discrepancies and obvious damages, route materials; and store, stack or palletize material in accordance with prescribed storage methods. Note: Exclude workers whose primary duties involve shipping and receiving work (see Shipping/Receiving Clerk), order filling (see Order Filler), or operating forklifts (see Forklift Operator). May be required to drive small to medium trucks for program needs including possible overnight stays.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Perform a variety of warehousing duties that require an understanding of the establishment's storage plan.
- Rearrange and take inventory of stored materials, examines stored materials and reports deterioration and damage.
- Removes material from storage and prepares it for shipment.
- May operate hand or power trucks in performing warehousing duties.
- Verify materials (or merchandise) against receiving documents, notes and reports discrepancies and obvious damages; route materials to prescribed storage locations; stores, stacks or palletizes material in accordance with prescribed storage methods.
- Assist with inventory, evaluation of general property.
- Operate company vehicles and material handling equipment.
- Select storage location and record selected location on inventory worksheets.
- Forward appropriate paperwork to supervisor for review.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and facilities to include government furnished property and equipment.
- Assist in remitting, transferring, and releasing property.
- Support sales activities.
- Assist with loading and unloading of material being transported.
- Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Minimum Requirements :
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required or equivalent training or experience.
- Six to twelve months job related experience and/or training is required.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Must be able to operate a government general-purpose vehicle.
- Perform driving duties as requested.
- Position may require overnight travel.
- Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
Typical warehouse environment with no unusual hazards, frequent lifting up to 20-60 pounds, kneeling, standing, and walking, routinely sitting and constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/or organizing skills, and musts be able to work under deadlines.

Service Contract Act (SCA) Compensation & Benefits:
This is an hourly, overtime-eligible position that falls under the Service Contract Act (SCA). In accordance with the Health and Welfare provisions of the SCA, and in addition to your base hourly rate, you may be eligible to receive an additional health and welfare payment for each hour you work to ensure compliance with the minimums set forth by the act. The amount you are entitled to receive will vary depending upon the fringe benefits you select now and in the future.
