Role summary
As a Product Support Engineering Intern for Widebody engines (GEnx, GE90, GP7200, and CF6), you will work alongside experienced Product Support Engineers (PSEs) focused on Externals Hardware including configurations, controls and accessories, and line maintenance. You will support both design and fleet management activities for hardware such as tubes, hoses, brackets, air valves, fuel pumps, and electrical sensors.
In this role, you will:
- Collaborate with PSEs to investigate and resolve real in-service issues impacting our global airline customers
- Analyze hardware performance and reliability to help maintain safe and efficient operation of widebody engine fleets
- Contribute to engineering documentation and design improvements that support maintainability and robustness of externals hardware
This internship offers a hands-on introduction to the aerospace industry, giving you the opportunity to apply your engineering knowledge, learn industry tools and processes, and help develop practical solutions that support the reliability of aircraft fleets worldwide.
Essential responsibilities
- Support engineering solutions for externals components, assemblies, and systems (design and fleet management) under guidance, helping meet program and product requirements
- Generate and document technical data, ensuring alignment with engineering policies, procedures, and standards
- Participate in technical and program reviews, sharing findings and learning from experienced engineers
- Communicate timely updates on significant issues and project status to key stakeholders
- Apply problem-solving skills to tasks of limited scope and complexity, with coaching and support
- Use Lean tools to improve assigned projects and support the team in developing and refining Lean practices
- Work within GE standards and procedures, including engineering standards, customer specifications, and applicable government and commercial requirements
- Manage multiple tasks in parallel, monitoring progress, quality, and timing to meet schedule commitments
- Apply solid engineering fundamentals to assigned tasks and demonstrate curiosity about the technical challenges involved
- Review and self-check your work to ensure accuracy and quality
Qualifications/Requirements
- Current engineering student (Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial, or related discipline)
- Graduation date no earlier than June 2027 (or equivalent timeline, still enrolled during the internship period)
- Effective written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish (able to hold basic conversations in English)
- Strong presentation skills and ability to communicate with senior stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to manage your own projects or academic/extra-curricular initiatives
- Effective problem identification and solving skills with a structured approach
- Proven analytical and organizational abilities
- Experience with visual management tools (such as dashboards, Kanban boards, or similar) is a plus
- Availability for partial-time work (30 hours per week)
- In-person presence required at GEIQ offices in Querétaro, Mexico
