Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and analytical Inventory Specialist to join our supply chain and warehouse management team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing inventory levels, optimizing stock control processes, and ensuring seamless coordination across procurement, logistics, and distribution functions. Responsibilities
- Manage inventory levels using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), ERP systems (including AS400), and other data analytics tools such as Power BI and Tableau.
- Conduct demand planning, stock forecasting, and supply chain analytics to optimize inventory turnover and reduce excess stock.
- Perform root cause analysis for inventory discrepancies or stock shortages and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with procurement teams on sourcing strategies, supplier management, negotiations, and contract management to ensure cost-effective purchasing.
- Coordinate with logistics providers for shipping & receiving, order fulfillment, materials handling, and 3PL operations.
- Utilize data mining techniques for inventory data collection, analysis, and visualization to support strategic decision-making.
- Develop process improvements in inventory control procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy across warehouse operations.
- Oversee category management, merchandising strategies, and pricing analysis to align inventory with market demand.
- Operate forklifts when necessary for materials handling in warehouse environments while adhering to safety standards.
- Engage in financial modeling and analysis related to inventory valuation, procurement costs, and supply chain performance metrics.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in supply chain management, warehouse distribution, or related fields with a focus on inventory control or materials management.
- Strong data analysis skills with proficiency in SQL, Power BI, Tableau, Nielsen data tools, or similar platforms.
- Experience working with ERP systems such as AS400 or other warehouse management systems (WMS).
- Knowledge of procurement processes including sourcing, negotiation, contracts management, and vendor relations.
- Familiarity with demand planning software like MRPs or production planning tools is preferred.
- Ability to perform root cause analysis and implement process improvements effectively.
- Hands-on experience operating forklifts and handling heavy lifting equipment safely is desirable.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in inventory tracking and data collection.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex data sets for actionable insights.
- Effective communication skills for cross-functional collaboration within logistics, retail management, e-commerce platforms, and supplier relationships.
