Job Summary and Qualifications
The Finance Director will play an important role on the Research service line team, providing financial leadership to a growing service line that is across 50+ sites. With more than 600 active studies, this position will advise and lead on strategies and tactics to effectively and efficiently grow the business. The Director will report to the Controller and work directly with the VP of Research and CFO to leverage the capabilities of the operations team to help with managing the budget, operating results, forecasting needs, analysis of acquisition opportunities, and analysis to support healthcare reimbursement and vendor negotiations. This person will be responsible for the implementation of new processes that will improve our ability to make strong financial decisions.
This role is based in office in Brentwood, TN.
Job Summary:
- Manage financial operations and provide strategic direction as it relates to the HRI service line, which includes 54 sites with more than 600 studies.
- Lead strategic planning for the Research service line, identifying opportunities to improve revenue and reduce operating expenses, leveraging the operations teams to execute service line profitability
- Ensure timeliness, accuracy and completeness of financial reports and projects to meet specified deadlines.
- Supervise, evaluate, and train a team of financial managers, senior financial analyst, and business analyst positions
- Present to and work with Hospital & Division CFOs on all financial related initiatives concerning the Research service line.
- Support contract negotiations related to business partners, suppliers, and customers
- Partner with accounting support teams to collaborate on billing and revenue cycle management.
- Own monthly reporting process and present monthly analysis on the financial statements to division leadership and Research leadership
- Utilize statistical, economic, and financial principles and techniques to prepare reports such as pro formas, projections and other ad hoc requests.
- Oversee and execute the preparation and implementation of budgets, forecasts and analysis for all sites and overhead operations.
- Engage and manage relationships across the enterprise with other business units, including but not limited to: accounting, financial reporting, HR, benefits, information technology and reimbursement.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field is required.
- Master’s Degree in Accounting is preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
- A minimum of 5-7 years in a Finance Manager or accounting role, preferably in healthcare
- CPA preferred
- Previous experience in a supervisory role a plus
- Project Management experience is strongly preferred
- Senior in Big 4 audit environment a plus
- 3 Ps – Potential, Personality and Past Experience
Software:
- Advanced Excel and database usage/knowledge are required, Hyperion Essbase, Business Objects, HOST (General Ledger) and MicroStrategy desired.
