Job Summary
MachineQ is at the center of innovation for Comcast, providing scalable Internet of Things (IoT) solutions that help leading brands transform operations across diverse industries. As part of Comcast Business, we’re accelerating the company’s enterprise solutions strategy with our proven IoT platform, while exploring emerging technologies like Vision Intelligence. The Director Finance and Business Operations plays a central, highly visible role delivering the business’ results and driving growth and collaboration across all functions within the MachineQ business unit as well as broader Comcast Business.
The Director will oversee the short- and long-term financial health of the business. Day-to-day managing direct reports, internal cross-functional stakeholders and customers to deliver revenue assurance, ensure business continuity and drive new business growth.
This individual will be directly responsible for core finance functions, including all quote-to-cash, pricing, sales reporting, revenue recognition, accounts receivable and bad debt management. This individual will, by extension, enable other financial and accounting activity such as tax compliance, inventory, COGS and ad-hoc business performance analysis. Responsibility of these areas of scope also includes oversight of all enabling systems and processes.
The Director will be required to develop close working partnerships across MachineQ’s Strategic Planning, Product, Operations, Marketing, and Sales teams, as well as liaise with organizations and functions in Comcast Business.
Specifically, the role will collaborate directly with members of Comcast Business finance and business operations functions, requiring facility and expertise with budgeting, demand planning, forecasting, and development of financial projections. This position is accountable for delivering accurate assessments of routine financial health to senior leadership.
The Director will also contribute meaningfully to comprehensive business process improvement. Overhauling existing workflows and systems, as well as implementing new procedures which will scale as the business grows. As the company continues to grow, this position will have purview to assess and advise on required resources to keep pace with business needs proactively. The Director will be responsible for managing direct reports in executing these responsibilities.
This position requires a highly autonomous and self-starter approach to problem-solving and analytics. Critical thinking, creativity, a willingness to challenge the status quo, and an ethos of ownership, initiative, and empowerment to tackle complex business challenges independently are all must-haves.
The Director will be responsible for architecting and implementing processes vital to the success of the business and its continued growth trajectory, often amidst ambiguity, shifting requirements, and competing priorities. Experience with business process improvement in a fast-paced environment is a key requirement for success.
An extremely keen attention to detail, and an ability to manage large volumes of information from disparate systems and sources, are also essential requirements. Polished executive communication skills, both verbal and written, are required.

- Manage all daily financial activities of the business, including but not limited to accounts receivable, invoicing and customer billing support, financial reporting, forecasting and budgeting, tax compliance, and fiscal period close procedures.
- Produce and communicate detailed executive summaries of financial performance, budget, inventory, and forecasts for senior leadership and various internal stakeholders across the Comcast ecosystem.
- Develop multi-disciplinary expertise throughout internal and external systems, including finance and accounting, compliance, procurement, inventory, sales/CRM, strategic planning and analytics.
- Quickly achieve fluency with MachineQ platform and Comcast Business products, underlying technologies, operational toolsets, features, and solutions portfolio.

Qualifications:
- 8+ years’ proven experience in finance or business operations role, preferably within a large enterprise environment. Complimentary advanced education.
- Strong level of interest in technology and growth stage businesses is a must, prior direct experience a big plus.
- Extremely strong attention to detail, with an ability to absorb, coalesce and analyze large volumes of data from disparate sources to drive critical business actions.
- Prior experience independently scoping, implementing and maintaining processes to streamline complex business and financial challenges.
- Significant experience with Salesforce and Atlassian (Jira, Confluence) highly preferred.
- Seasoned leadership and interpersonal skills, able to deliver results autonomously while managing through ambiguity.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively and build strong relationships with teammates, internal stakeholders, customers and vendors alike. Polished executive communication skills, both verbal and written, are required.
- Ability to actively listen and engage empathetically with customers and teammates, while always maintaining a positive and professional demeanor.
