Nelson Media Company is seeking a motivated, organized, and community-minded Newspaper Office & Operations Coordinator to support two of our local publications: The Osage Oracle and the Nora Springs–Rockford Register.
This is a key, in-person role based out of our Saint Ansgar office, working closely with ownership, editors, and our broader media team. We’re looking for someone who takes pride in professionalism, enjoys helping people, and wants to help set the standard for how modern local newspapers operate in North Iowa.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with organizing and placing content into the newspaper
- Serve as the first point of contact for subscription questions, advertising inquiries, and general customer service (email, phone, and in-person)
- Help manage and organize subscriber accounts
- Assist with monthly billing and invoicing
- Complete weekly deposits and basic financial organization
- Support day-to-day office operations for both newspapers
- Work closely with ownership, editors, advertisers, and community members
- Help establish efficient systems, organization, and professionalism within the newspaper office
What We’re Looking For
- A dependable, detail-oriented leader who takes initiative
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Comfort working with organization, numbers, and office systems
- Ability to manage multiple tasks while staying organized
- Interest in local journalism, community engagement, and media
- Office or administrative experience preferred, but we will train the right person
Compensation & Growth
- Starting wage of $12–$14 per hour, based on experience
- Raises planned after 90 days and again at one year, based on performance

Pay: $12.00 - $14.00 per hour
