Role Purpose
Responsible for the development and validation of body shop manufacturing processes, ensuring robust joining strategies, dimensional quality, and automation readiness for a new vehicle and factory program.
Key Responsibilities
- Define body shop process architecture, including welding, fastening, bonding, and automation strategies, aligned with product and quality requirements.
- Develop and maintain Process FMEA (PFMEA) and Control Plans for body-in-white operations, ensuring effective risk identification and mitigation.
- Support digital pre-assembly and digital manufacturing validation, including virtual builds and dimensional simulations.
- Develop early manufacturing readiness documentation to support equipment selection, facility design, and phased execution.
- Ensure alignment between product GD&T, joining strategies, and manufacturing capability.
- Support pilot builds, launch execution, and production ramp-up.
- Support structured cross-functional change-management, including impact assessment, decision alignment, and escalation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
- Experience in automotive body shop manufacturing engineering.
- Strong knowledge of joining technologies and dimensional control.
- Experience supporting new product introduction and manufacturing readiness.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with highly automated body shop environments.
- Familiarity with virtual build, digital manufacturing, or simulation tools.
The salary range for this position is dependent upon experience, education, and qualifications.
Pay Range: $105 USD - $125 USD
