Purpose and Impact:
DOE Savannah River Site (SRS) processes and stores nuclear materials in support of national defense and U.S. nuclear nonproliferation efforts. The site also develops and deploys technologies to improve the environment and treat solid and liquid nuclear and hazardous waste left from the Cold War. While current missions remain the highest priority, SRS leadership places great importance on developing broader missions for SRS that use its unique capabilities to address critical national missions. The Operation and Maintenance operator is Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS), as a Subcontractor to SRNS, Amentum Technology Inc. (ATI) provides telecommunications system operation and maintenance services as well as site operator services at SRS. This position supports operation and maintenance program managing the voice and data services at the Savannah River site.
Work Schedule: 10 hours Monday through Thursday
Essential Responsibilities:
Responsible for the engineering, maintenance, upkeep and repair of the copper and fiber optic cable outside plant and the related infra-structure at SRS; in support of the Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, LLC (SRNS) O&M Telecommunication’s contract. Responsibilities include:
- Analyze, develop, and design outside plant engineering modification request (EMS) packages for SRNS.
- Walk down all jobs prior to designing them.
- Primary point of contact to interface with SRNS user departments to coordinate work and excavation.
- Assist and walk down all jobs with SRNS personnel.
- Provide statement of work for each EMS package.
- Research drawings and prepare materials list for each EMS, Work Orders (WO) and trouble reports.
- Log, maintain status, and provide an overview of all OSP, EMSs, WOs, and trouble reports.
- Process and track service orders related to OSP activity
- Ensure timely response to SRNS requirements to maintain service.
- Coordinate fiber and copper splicing issues.
- Operate MicroStation system, which includes Design Drawings, Work prints, and As-builts.
- Correct and update (as-built) OSP drawing as required.
- Provide and maintain document control for OSP drawing and documentation.
- Provide instructional cross-training in MicroStation for other technicians or engineers, as required.

Minimum Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
- Outside Plant Fiber and Copper knowledge
- Aerial and underground construction, site surveys, right-of-way permitting, conduit systems, and fiber splicing.
- Cat 5e and Cat 6a cabling knowledge for installation, termination, and repair.
- Single mode and Multimode Fiber installation and termination knowledge
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Must have a current driver’s license
- Must pass an alcohol and substance abuse test
- Must be able to pass to obtain DOE Clearance
- Must be able to work flexible hours
- Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift, up to 50 lbs.
- Stand on your feet for extended periods of time.
Clearance Required:
- Must be able to pass to obtain DOE Clearance

Compensation Details:
$38.50 - $40.10
