Purpose and Scope:
The Plumber functions as key member of a multi-skilled team to safely and effectively maintain facility infrastructure and critical systems at the Joint Defense Facility Pine Gap. The Plumber provides a professional service in the execution of technical repair & maintenance of all assigned facility infrastructure equipment. This includes elements of planning, organization, coordination associated with the day-to-day maintenance of the facility.
The Plumber is responsible for installations, repairs, maintenance and repairs to pipe systems, fixtures and appurtenance associated with water, natural gas, air, sewage, and industrial waste systems. Working both independently and as part of a skilled maintenance team, ensuring systems are operating safely and efficiently in line with relevant codes and standards.
Within this team the Plumber must contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, supporting the implementation of improvement initiatives and technical advance as well as having the ability to think on their feet and complete assigned tasks to a high standard.
This position works closely with the Facilities Operations Team, other Facilities Maintainers and OASIS departments to foster, promote and maintain best-practice standards and enable reliable, consistent and effective maintenance and operation of facility systems. This role is key to the success of the broader O&M team and thus also works closely with all Facilities O&M personnel in the delivery of high-quality facility O&M services to enable the JDFPG mission.
Key Responsibilities
Independently perform contraction and maintenance of plumbing systems, working in conformance with proper codes, ordinances, sketches, specifications, blueprints, written and verbal instructions
Lay out, construct, install, rebuild, maintain, repair, adjust, modify and test plumbing systems such as water, drain lines, lawn and fire sprinkler systems, etc.
Assist in the maintenance and repair of underground sewer and water systems
Determine the location for and type, size and amount of material required, considering such factors as volume, pressure, temperature and type of substance being piped.
Perform minor insulation with prefabricated mineral insulating material, binding, plastic, cement, etc., as required. Perform routine plumbing, such as diagnosing, testing and repairing all types of plumbing lines and fixtures
Diagnose and repair major plumbing breakdowns, which do not respond to routine maintenance
May be subject to working with hazardous waste. May operate gas welding equipment to perform cutting, burning, and soldering, as necessary, to accomplish work assignment
Maintain logs, records, charts, etc., as required. Maintain certification and/or licenses required by State or local authorities
Responsible for the accurate and timely completion of job-related documents, such as Work Orders, time sheets and safety reports. Job-related documentation requires inputting and processing information from paper Work Orders into digital systems
Ensure, promote, and maintain health and safety practices/compliances at site and within the workplace.

Active TS/SCI with Polygraph Clearance (only cleared candidates will be considered.) or Australian Citizen who can obtain the appropriate level of security clearance.
Qualifications
Essential:
- Strong understanding of Work Health Safety (WHS) Act, and EHS policies & procedures;
- Demonstrated understanding and experience working within Facility Maintenance or similar technical environment;
- Strong understanding of equipment maintenance requirements (preventive, predictive, & corrective);
- Demonstrated high level of problem solving, decision making and analytical skills;
Desirable (not essential):
- Enterprise Resource Planning experience. (SAP, Archibus)
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Proficient level of computer skills
Tickets and Licenses:
Essential:
- Australian candidates must hold and be able to maintain an Australian "Journeyman" Plumbers and Drainers Licence,
- US candidates must hold and maintain a minimum of a US State "Journeyman’s" License
- US candidates from Arizona must hold and maintain a US State "Contractors" License.

Experience:
- 4 years post trade experience.
Physical Requirements
Personnel are required to be medically fit to work and safely complete all physical tasks associated with the role in which they are employed. This includes but is not limited to being able to carry and control moderate to heavy loads and being able to safely traverse and access maintenance environments which may be uneven or cramped
Security & Medical Requirements
It is a condition of employment at JDFPG that employees obtain and retain the appropriate level of security clearance and medical clearance applicable to each role. The employee will initially require a NV1 with the intent of applying for a Top-Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) Department of Defense Security Clearance (Australian) or TS/SCI (U.S.) clearance.

EHS REQUIREMENT
All OASIS personnel are responsible for understanding and complying with all site environmental, health and safety requirements. While OASIS is responsible for providing a safe workplace and is responsible for ensuring compliance with requirements of the JDFPG Handbook, each person is responsible for:
- Completing work task in a safe manner
- Reporting any unsafe acts or conditions to their supervisor and/or OASIS PMO/EHS Manager
- Continuous adherence to the environmental, health and safety procedures outlined in the JDFPG Handbook during the performance of their work
- Red-Carding a Job - Employee right and responsibility to “STOP WORK” if a job is unsafe or possess a danger to the environment.
