You'll be expected to contribute to both back-end and front-end development, participating in the full software development lifecycle — from designing and building scalable systems to delivering intuitive user experiences.
What You’ll Do:
As a Software Engineer I focusing on both front-end and back-end development of the operations systems, you will be doing exciting work to deliver an extraordinary experience for our Pharmacists, Customer Support Representatives, and our Pet Parents. Your work will directly impact millions of customers who care for their furry family members every day.
- Apply algorithms, data structures, and design patterns to produce efficient and performant code
- Design, develop, extend, and debug code across frontend (React or similar) and backend systems
- Identify root causes and implement solutions for bugs and production issues
- Contribute to team's standard practices for testing, logging, instrumentation, metrics, and alerting
- Collaborate on service architecture, data models, deployment pipelines, and public cloud services
- Participate in on-call rotations and drive operational excellence
- Work closely with designers and product managers to create responsive, accessible UIs
What You’ll Need:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
- 1+ years of software engineering experience across both front-end and back-end systems
- Proficiency in object-oriented programming, RESTful APIs, and debugging complex systems
- Familiarity with front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, and frameworks like React or Angular
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS preferred), databases, and operating systems
- Understanding of software engineering best practices including code reviews, testing, and CI/CD processes
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in e-commerce or healthcare domains
- Exposure to serverless technologies such as AWS Lambda or Step Functions
- Familiarity with Spring Boot, Kafka, or PostgreSQL
- Understanding of accessibility best practices and performance optimization for web applications
- Knowledge of agile methodologies such as Scrum or XP
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools and cloud deployment strategies
- Interest in observability tools such as Datadog
