Who we’re looking for
Toyota’s TMNA Paint Production Engineering Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Engineer for Resin Parts and Jig Development.
The primary responsibility of this role is to lead the design of bumper/body jigs for the painting processes and function as liaison between design and manufacturing projects throughout all Toyota’s North American Paint Manufacturing Shops. As lead, this role is responsible to ensure safety, quality, productivity and cost all meet design targets.
Reporting to the Manager, the person in this role will support the Paint Engineering department's objective to provide new model processes to manufacturing facilities that meet Paint Standard, Safety, Quality, Productivity and Cost.
What you’ll be doing
Responsible for bumper jig design and development, visiting suppliers and NAMCs to manage jig quality, budget, and feedback from manufacturing site.
Developing CAE Programs to improve jig design, and cleaning processes incorporating Toyota Manufacturing Principles
Evaluate resin parts to meet all Toyota standards and provide feedback to design groups.
Create reports showing resin parts structure and jigs meet all quality, productivity and cost criteria
Communicating with several PE and external groups to gain one voice for programming requirements
Support on-line trials on the production floor to confirm results vs planned.
Support SE group to develop and update Paint SE standard check sheet, shikumi, BMC, feedback from other projects to continue improve Paint SE quality, safety, productivity, and cost.
Proficient in 2D and 3D modeling and design, AutoCad, Catia.
Overall project schedule planning/maintenance
Coordinating TMNA PE & NAMC resources to complete studies/deliverables
Developing standards
Japan and North American (US/CA/MX) travel as part of project activity
What you bring
Bachelor of Science degree (or higher) in Engineering or related degree
3+ year in plastics/paint or related field
High Level Experience and knowledge of CAE
High Level Experience with Catia V5 and Hypermesh CAE simulation software
Ability to work weekends, holiday periods and shutdowns to support projects.
Ability to Travel within North America including Mexico and Canada and Japan
Proficient with Microsoft products (Excel, Power-Point, Word, Outlook).
