Job Summary and Qualifications
Under the leadership of the Corporate VP of National Transfer Centers (NTC), the Corporate Director of Operations for National Transfer Centers, is responsible for effectively leading a multitude of aspects of the transfer center operation across the 13 field locations, including the implementation and integration of new programs, processes, and functions within the centers. This position will lead all hiring of transfer center analysts with heavy dotted line reporting authority and is responsible for the development of the analyst team including all training. The Corporate Director of Operations will also have corporate oversight and leadership in technology strategy & integration, emergency preparedness, center labor & productivity, alignment for new acquisitions and new functions to the transfer center arena. Takes leadership in these areas by collaborating with Enterprise department leaders and field transfer center VPs and AVPs, as well as partnering with the Corporate AVP of National Transfer Centers for clinical process integration and needs. HCA Transfer Centers have been evolving over the last 5 years and will only continue to mature. As this maturation takes place, it is projected to transform from a decentralized model to one of central oversight, taking on addition areas of call center operations and function including the Behavioral Health Assessment & Response Centers. This transformation will require a high level of collaborative partnership, and leadership maneuvering within a highly matrixed environment.
Participates as a key contributor to the development, planning, and execution of transfer center initiatives. Based on the extensive involvement of transfer centers in many lines of business and support service lines, this role will necessarily function as the “face” of the department along with the Corporate VP and AVP. This role will also serve as owner for numerous internal NTC initiatives; NTC representation on external initiatives; and assigned as lead business collaborator for NTC IT&S initiatives. Will work closely with data metrics to identify, track and measure outcomes associated with initiatives and operations functions to ensure achievement of the NTC service line and Company goals. This role understands the NTC organizational needs and develops creative approaches to support collaboration, supports standardization and integration across HCA.
What you will do in this role:
- Key Contributor to the development, planning, and execution of NTC programs and projects
- Leads in collaboration with field transfer center leaders all integration tactics for new facility or access point acquisitions made by the Company including new transfer center acquisition on boarding
- Supports efforts needed by Corporate VP in the expansions or consolidations of transfer center locations, and alignment needs with corporate level departments for optimal integration
- Leads the data & reporting strategy for the NTC organization including but not limited to the oversight of the data analyst team, implementation of the NTC reporting/data optimization and standardization efforts for business operations and the expansion of reporting needed for additional functions such as BH ARCs, Central Patient Placement (CPP), and transportation strategies.
- Leads the technology strategy for the NTC organization through partnership with ITG leaders while operating as the business owner for all technology decisions, integrations, and implementations
- Leads all aspects of the NTC emergency preparedness programs, collaborating with Corporate AVP when clinical input and decision making is needed to ensure proper alignment
- Supports the on boarding and development of new all new transfer center leaders especially operation anaylsts including site visits for hands on work when needed
- Drives alignment with key service lines, business areas, departments, and programs to support HCA and NTC and to increase collaboration for growth across HCA
- Presents at hospital, division, and corporate level meetings when needed or as substitute for Corporate VP & AVP
- Supports all other duties as assigned from the Corporate VP and frequent interaction and assignments from HCA senior leadership
What qualifications you will need:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 7-10 years relevant work experience required
- 3-7 years managerial experience required
- Transfer Center Operations experience preferred
- Strategic insight: The ability to be strategic in bringing ideas to the leadership table
- Emotional intelligence: To lead meetings and make decisions independently at the customer’s level
- Business Acumen: Strong business acumen of the hospital industry, service lines, and NTC operations. Demonstrated knowledge about healthcare and specifically HCA’s core businesses
- Leadership: Demonstrated success in leading a team and providing coaching and feedback
- Continuous Improvement: Organizing and managing activities associated with continuous improvement in the NTC organization. Supports specific critical continuous improvement efforts
- Managing multiple tasks/responsibilities: Managing and achieving a multitude of objectives simultaneously in an effective manner to meet deadlines and balance the workload for successful meeting of expectations and overall work output
- Training Skills: Exhibits good training skills. Promotes adoption of NTC initiatives across the organization
- Analytical Skills & Decision Making: Skilled at researching complex issues and providing alternatives, benefits, and risks
- Senior Leader Support and Interaction: Ability to interact with HCA’s senior leaders and work with all levels of management of the company
