The Role:
GM's Low Voltage Infrastructure Team within the Embedded Platform Systems & Infrastructure organization is looking for a highly capable, highly motivated Technical Specialist of Calibration – Low Voltage Infrastructure. The position is located within GM's Electrical Architecture organization, focused on developing systems, software, and controls for on-vehicle low voltage power generation, energy storage, power management, distribution, and consumption control. This is a unique opportunity to shape next-generation low voltage power architectures and consumption control strategies.
The Calibration Technical Specialist – Low Voltage Infrastructure is responsible for leading a team of Calibration Engineers to produce high-quality, on-time deliverables across all Electrification and ICE vehicle programs using common methods, processes, and procedures. The selected candidate will serve as the Low Voltage Ecosystem Champion, driving system performance quality, calibration consistency, and cross-program alignment.
What You'll Do:

Technical leader for Electric Power (12V and Low-Voltage System) calibration for all Electrification and ICE vehicle programs

Lead the development of calibration strategies; serve as the Calibration Strategy Lead and Future Calibration Strategy Lead, developing and evolving Low Voltage Infrastructure calibration approaches to support next-generation Electric Power architectures

Develop common approaches and institutionalize them in Calibration Standard Work (Calibration Procedures, Cal Planner, Deliverables, Master Calibration, Cal Guides, CEGs / Cal Check, etc.)

Serve as the Calibration SME and Technical Leader to all LVI Scrums and TRBs, providing expert-level calibration guidance and ensuring alignment across all active programs

Serve as the Technical Response and Triage Expert and Lead; drive identification, prioritization, and resolution of technical issues through structured triage processes and lead a Calibration TRB

Identify and resolve requirement gaps in partnership with Technical Owners, ensuring calibration requirements are complete, accurate, and aligned across subsystems and programs

Improve the efficiency and quality of Calibration Standard Work by systematically driving present vehicle-based tasks into Lab and/or Math/Virtual environments

Mentor Calibration Engineers, providing technical training and establishing good communication and knowledge-sharing

Represent Electric Power Calibration in partnership with VMEC through the development of Electric Power Controls

Support Chief Engineer calibration reviews and cross-program calibration reviews, as necessary

Serve as Final Approver for calibration reviews; conduct line by line calibration reviews for every release and ensure deliverable quality meets program standards

Own Core Approvals for LVI & BCM, ensuring calibration sign-off processes are executed accurately and on schedule across all applicable programs

Serve as Complexity Management Lead, proactively identifying, tracking, and mitigating calibration complexity risks to protect program timing and quality

Support Resource Management and headcount needs for the calibration team, partnering with engineering leadership to ensure appropriate staffing levels and skill alignment across programs

Serve as a representative to associated Hardware PMT(s) as applicable

Provide input to Subsystem and Hardware Component Technical Specifications as applicable

Ensure compliance with government regulations and GM-internal policies

Document and integrate Lessons Learned from development and field issues into updated/new algorithms and Calibration Standard Work

Actively participate in ATW and advanced calibration projects ensuring calibration requirements are captured in hardware and controls architecture design
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or Chemical Engineering

Minimum 7 years of overall job-related engineering experience
-
Minimum 5 years of Calibration specific experience
-
Strong background in calibration/controls, including associated tools (MATLAB, Simulink, INCA, CRETA, Vehicle Spy, CalCheck, JIRA, etc.)

High proficiency in root causing and triaging complex vehicle and system-level issues, with demonstrated ability to lead structured problem-solving efforts, drive issues to closure, and implement corrective actions across hardware, software, and calibration domains

Expertise with 12V/Low Voltage Electric Power Systems and/or Controls (low voltage setpoint control, battery saver modes, and low voltage load management)

Thorough knowledge of calibration process and Calibration Standard Work

Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to: Provide technical direction to other engineers and engineering support personnel, Drive global and industry decisions, Lead discussions, action plans, and solutions to drive issues to closure

Exercises independent judgment with minimal input from Engineering Group Manager

Proven leadership capabilities with a track record of driving results, demonstrating initiative, and maintaining strong “it’s on me” ownership

Master’s or PhD degree in Engineering

10+ years of overall job-related engineering experience

Experience working in multiple functional areas within Electrification or ICE controls/calibration

Publications and/or patents in Electric Power systems/controls/calibration

Knowledge and understanding of Scaled Agile Framework’s version 5.0 of the Agile development process
