Role Title: Senior Program Manager
Role Description:
We are seeking a highly experienced Defence Program Manager to lead the establishment and delivery of a Support System Remediation Program within a large and complex Defence environment. This role will stand up and lead a dedicated Program Management Office (PMO) responsible for uplifting an existing support system to ensure long‑term sustainability, improved performance and strengthened governance.
The Program Manager will provide strategic oversight, coordinate multiple technical and commercial workstreams and act as the central point of communication across Defence stakeholders and industry partners.
This position requires a senior professional capable of delivering structured governance, high‑level reporting and clear, consistent engagement at all levels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and lead a PMO; including program structures, governance frameworks, operating rhythms and reporting systems.
- Drive the implementation of the support system remediation plan; ensuring coordinated delivery across engineering, technical, commercial and assurance partners.
- Serve as the primary coordination point for all program activities; ensuring alignment, communication and integrated planning across stakeholders.
- Lead stakeholder engagement with internal Defence groups, sustainment organisations, program offices and industry suppliers.
- Oversee schedules, risks, issues, finances and interdependencies to maintain program momentum and achieve milestones.
- Ensure program activities comply with Defence governance, safety, regulatory and capability requirements; including updates to relevant safety case documentation.
- Provide strategic advice, program insights and decision support to senior leadership.
- Promote a high‑performance culture and drive continuous improvement in program processes.
Skills and Experience:
- Tertiary qualifications in Project/Program Management, Business, Engineering or a related discipline.
- Recognised project or program management certifications such as PRINCE2, PMP or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience establishing and leading PMOs; including governance, reporting and program control frameworks.
- Strong background delivering programs within Defence or similarly complex, regulated environments.
- Experience with sustainment, capability support systems or large technical remediation programs (highly desirable).
- Advanced communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across Defence, industry and senior leadership levels.
- Proven ability to operate autonomously, prioritise effectively and deliver within tight timeframes.
- Strong capability in schedule, financial and risk management with a track record of resolving complex issues.
