Job Summary
A Design Engineer supporting the Drivetrain Shaft & Gear Components Team is responsible for the design, analysis, development, and validation of Caterpillar Drivetrain Components. The Shaft & Gear Component Team works to develop collaborative relationships internally, as well as with customers, suppliers and other functional groups to ensure goals are achieved. Supporting the Shaft & Gear Components Team, you will be supporting machines produced by Caterpillar and utilized by customers around the world. Additionally, you will serve as the liaison for Shaft components that are produced and utilized regionally.
Job Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Support multiple manufacturing plants by contributing to the identification and implementation of efficiency and quality improvement projects, helping standardize best practices and optimize processes across operations.
• Design, development and validation of Shafts & Gear Components for Caterpillar Powertrains.
• Application of analytic techniques including empirical and theoretical methods. Examples: part conformance analysis, failure mode analysis, carryover analysis, life roll ups, and application loads analysis.
• Support identification & development of rough material and purchased finished supply base.
• Point of contact for regional products.
• Manage New Product Introduction, Continuous Product Improvement, Cost Reduction, Aftermarket and Maintenance project workload to meet project due dates.
• Collaborative Product and Process Development and Collaboration with our downstream internal worked part partners.
• CPPD and Collaboration with our downstream external supplier partners, Global Supply Network, Supply Chain on new and in-flight projects for awareness of the projects and process development for upcoming builds.
Education Requirements:
- Mechanical, Mechatronic, or Aerospace Engineering Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) in an accredited Engineering curriculum
- Intermediate English-speaking level required.
Top Candidates will also have:
Analytical Thinking
Computer-Aided Design & Engineering
- Proficient in CREO and CREO Simulate
Product Design and Development
- Working knowledge with rotating components: shafts, bearings, gears, splines
- Strong knowledge of concept, design, test, analysis, detailing, or validation experience
Top Candidates will also have:
- Working experience in drivetrain experience
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Engineering
- Strong work ethic and initiative
- Strong analytical skills
- Familiarity with virtual product development tools
- Experience with materials and joining methods
- Knowledge of Caterpillar Product Development process including experience with NPI, CPI, FMEA, Product Lifecycle Management
Additional Information
• The location for this position is available in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon.
• Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 7am - 4pm.
• This position will require 10% travel, domestic and international.
• Relocation is not available.
