Description:Role Overview The Packaging Engineer will support Lockheed Martin Space Production Operations as part of the Product Protection Engineering team. This role focuses on designing and implementing packaging solutions that protect products during storage, handling, and transportation, while ensuring compliance with regulatory and industry standards.
Key Duties / Responsibilities ● Design packaging solutions using internal and industry standards to maintain the “as-manufactured” condition of products
● Ensure compliance for outbound hazardous materials shipments
● Analyze current processes to identify gaps and improve efficiency
● Assist in developing product protection specifications
● Test packaging designs to meet Department of Transportation regulations and performance standards
● Use CAD software and product data management systems to create, review, and release product protection designs
● Support production activities, including technical drawing reviews and transportation/logistics initiatives
● Communicate effectively across teams, both orally and in writing

Basic Qualifications:Candidates must meet all requirements listed:
● Proficiency with CAD software
● Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or equivalent demonstrated experience
● Experience with packaging, certifying, and shipping hazardous materials
● Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
● United States citizenship
Desired Skills:These skills are not required but will strengthen your candidacy:
● Proficiency with Creo Parametric
● Knowledge of 49 CFR hazardous materials packaging and transportation regulations
● Certifications related to hazardous materials transport
● Familiarity with military and industry packaging standards, such as MIL-STD-2073, MIL-STD-810, ASTM D6256, and ASTM D6251
● Experience applying ASME Y14.5 and Y14.100 drafting standards
● Experience with Military Preservation and Packaging (SPIs, Data Item Descriptions, Packaging and Preservation Plans)
● Experience with high-value spacecraft hardware packaging and handling
● Experience with contamination-sensitive hardware (e.g., ESD, shock, UV, vibration, humidity, corrosion)
● Experience with Creo View and Creo Illustrate
● Knowledge of process specifications, manufacturing processes, and product-specific requirements
● Familiarity with SAP
● Experience performing and conducting peer reviews
● Ability to perform static stress calculations for shock and vibration attenuation

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
