Caterpillar is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer for our North Little Rock, Arkansas location!
Role Summary
Caterpillar’s Manufacturing Engineers are responsible for designing, improving, and sustaining safe, high-quality, and efficient manufacturing processes that deliver value to our customers. The O150 Manufacturing Engineer operates with increased autonomy and ownership compared to entry‑level roles and is expected to lead process improvements, integrate digital and automation solutions, and proactively drive safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance across manufacturing operations.
This role supports Caterpillar’s enterprise strategy by putting the customer first, improving employee safety, strengthening quality and reliability, and advancing lean, automation, and data‑driven manufacturing.
What You Will Do
Customer, Safety & Quality Focus
Design and improve manufacturing processes that protect employee safety, reduce ergonomic risk, and comply with all EHS requirements.
Ensure manufacturing processes consistently meet customer quality expectations, regulatory requirements, and Caterpillar standards.
Investigate quality issues, lead root cause analysis, and implement permanent corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Manufacturing Process Ownership
Lead the analysis, development, and implementation of manufacturing processes, tooling, equipment, and layouts.
Monitor process capability, equipment reliability, and throughput; identify gaps and implement improvements.
Own and execute engineering changes (ECNs) affecting manufacturing processes, tooling, and equipment.
Lean, Continuous Improvement & Cost
Apply lean manufacturing principles to eliminate waste, improve flow, and increase overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
Identify and execute cost reduction and productivity improvement opportunities without compromising safety or quality.
Support standard work development and sustainment across operations.
Digital & Automation Enablement
Identify opportunities to apply automation, digital tools, and data analytics to improve manufacturing performance.
Support or lead deployment of automation solutions, including RPA, equipment monitoring, and process controls, where applicable.
Use manufacturing systems and data (e.g., SAP, MES, equipment data) to support fact‑based decision making.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Partner with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Maintenance, Facilities, and Product Engineering to deliver integrated manufacturing solutions.
Provide technical coaching and guidance to operations and support teams.
Support new product introduction (NPI/NSI) and production readiness activities.
What You Will Have (Core Skills)
Collaborative Automation: Knowledge of techniques and processes of collaborative automation; ability to develop and deploy cobots to automate manufacturing processes.
Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
Engineering - MFG: Knowledge of processes, techniques and methods of engineering in a manufacturing environment; ability to design and implement materials, structures, machines, devices, systems and processes that safely realize a desired objective or invention.
Lean Manufacturing: Knowledge of the philosophy, principles and implementation approaches of lean manufacturing; ability to integrate and implement lean manufacturing philosophy into existing production and management processes.
Manufacturing Processes: Knowledge of existing product manufacturing methods, technologies and processes; ability to execute, plan, manage and monitor the entire manufacturing process.
Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
Robotic Process Automation (RPA): Knowledge of techniques and processes of robotic process automation (RPA); ability to develop and deploy RPA solutions in various industries.
Top Candidates Will Have
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or related discipline).
Familiarity with manufacturing systems and digital tools (e.g., SAP, MES, data analytics, automation or RPA concepts).
Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across functions.

Summary Pay Range:
$89,210.00 - $133,810.00
