About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Head of Nuclear Compliance, Audit and Performance Improvement, the IMS Governance & Assurance Manager provides senior leadership and expert oversight of the Integrated Management System (IMS) within the Sizewell C Client organisation.
The role leads IMS governance, internal audit, and regulatory interface activities within the 3 Lines of Defence model, ensuring compliance with nuclear regulatory requirements and international standards. Acting with a high degree of autonomy, the postholder influences senior decision‑making and manages the relationship with the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR), holding accountability as Licence Condition 17 (LC17) Manager.
The role includes strategic planning, people leadership, budget input, and continuous improvement to support safe and compliant delivery of a major nuclear infrastructure project.
Key Responsibilities
Lead IMS governance, assurance and internal audit activities in line with the Integrated Assurance Strategy
Develop and deliver the SS&A Integrated Assurance Programme and Assurance Plan
Manage and maintain an effective, compliant Integrated Management System
Lead ONR engagement relating to IMS; act as LC17 Manager
Ensure audit findings are agreed, tracked and closed out effectively
Monitor assurance performance, trends and improvements
Ensure compliance with and certification against ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, 27001, PAS 2080 and ISO 19443
Lead and manage IMS resources, capability, performance and development
Contribute to budget planning, workload management and departmental risk
Here's What You'll Need:
Proven senior stakeholder engagement skills, including regulators
Strong people leadership experience within complex organisations
Demonstrated ability to influence behavioural and cultural change
Expert knowledge of:Integrated Management Systems, ISO 9001, ISO 19443, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, Nuclear governance frameworks (e.g. GSR Part 2/3)
Experience managing IMS within a large, highly regulated environment
Confident communicator and presenter at executive and regulatory level
Credible, evidence-based decision-maker
Qualifications & Experience
Degree-qualified in Engineering, Science or equivalent experience
Extensive experience within the UK nuclear regulatory environment
Significant experience of external regulatory and stakeholder engagement
Nuclear industry experience essential; PWR exposure preferred
Prior team leadership responsibility
Desirable
Experience on large-scale infrastructure or mega projects
Strong grounding in nuclear safety design and quality assurance
Previous experience working with regulators in a fast-moving or evolving project environment
