Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the US government, allies, and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking a Medical Records Technician to support the Base Operating Support Contractor (BOSC) Clinic program on the island of Diego Garcia.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The Medical Records Technician is responsible for managing patient medical records effectively, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and security of sensitive health information. This role supports the clinical team in maintaining organized records while adhering to privacy laws and regulatory standards. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Organizing, maintaining, and updating patient medical records in physical and electronic formats in compliance with clinic policies and standards.
- Ensuring medical records are accurately filed, securely stored, and easily accessible to authorized personnel for patient care and operational purposes.
- Validating that medical records contain complete and accurate information, including patient histories, test results, diagnoses, and treatment plans.
- Registering and updating patient information in health record management systems, ensuring timely and accurate data entry.
- Reviewing medical records for compliance with HIPAA privacy laws and other applicable regulations to maintain patient confidentiality.
- Responding to requests for medical records from authorized healthcare providers, patients, and other authorized entities.
- Preparing reports and summaries of patient data as requested by clinical personnel or administrative leadership.
- Assisting healthcare providers by ensuring medical documentation is readily available to support patient care and clinical decision-making.
- Managing record release processes and maintaining logs of records requested, accessed, or transferred.
- Providing guidance and training to staff on proper medical record documentation, organization, and security practices.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Two (2) years of experience in medical records management, healthcare administration, or a related field.
- Proficiency in using medical recordkeeping and health information management systems, as well as standard office software applications.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and related privacy laws for handling protected health information (PHI).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure accurate and efficient record maintenance.
- Ability to handle sensitive patient information with discretion and professionalism.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be in possession of a valid passport and able to travel internationally.
- Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year at the time of hire.
- Ability to successfully meet contract medical requirements and maintain standards for the duration of deployment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Certified Health Data Analyst (CHDA), or equivalent is highly desirable.
- Associate’s degree in Health Information Technology, Health Administration, or a related field.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and tools commonly used in clinical settings.
- Experience working in military, government, or austere healthcare environments.
- Strong communication skills for effectively interacting with medical staff, patients, and administrative personnel.
