Job Summary:
The Large Power Systems Division currently has an opening for a Test & Validation Senior Associate Engineer within the Power Systems & Controls Development team.
Primary responsibilities will include developing engine systems efficiently with focus on optimizing engine performance and emissions. You will perform engine system calibrations that meets customer needs and ensure all applicable emissions regulatory requirements are met.
The candidate will be expected to ensure tests are run on schedule and to provide regular updates to management and technical leadership on the progress of their projects. Documentation of work accomplished along with stakeholder updates will be required on completion of projects. This role will require developing strong peer relationships and collaboration with global teams.
What you will do:
- Develop engine ratings that meet emissions and critical customer performance targets
- Perform complex analysis work, identify, and solve challenging problems
- Create and deliver technical reports
- Communicate technical information to customers and internal technical leadership and management
- Mentor and train new engineers on processes/procedures for engine development
- Collaborate with a global team across multiple functional areas
- Perform work in accordance with ISO 17025 processes
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum
Skills you will have:
- Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Basic understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.
- Analytical Thinking: Working knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
- Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Basic understanding and knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
- Effective Communications: Working knowledge of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
- Project Management: Basic understanding of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
- Product Testing: Working knowledge of product testing approaches, techniques and tools; ability to design, plan and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure product quality at all stages of manufacturing.
Top Candidates Will Have:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Technical knowledge - experience with engine testing, calibration, simulation, or controls
- Familiarity with 1-D engine performance and transient simulation tools, such as GT Power
- The ability to work/lead multiple projects simultaneously and to make sound priority decisions

Summary Pay Range:
$89,210.00 - $133,810.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
