About E&ES:
Caterpillar’s Electrification & Energy Solutions (E&ES) Division will focus on delivering advanced electrified power train, zero-emissions products/technologies, and the solutions and services associated with these technologies. Focus areas include batteries, fuel cells, motors, inverters, micro grid controllers, charging, energy storage systems, lifecycle solutions/services and integration of components for ePowertrain solutions across industries.

Job Summary:
The Engineering Manager – BMS Hardware is responsible for leading the design, development, and production support of Battery Management System (BMS) hardware used across Caterpillar electrified products. This includes cell monitoring electronics, pack controllers, sensing, power distribution, and hardware interfaces supporting low- and high-voltage battery systems. This role provides people leadership, technical direction, and program accountability for BMS hardware teams spanning current production, NPI, and future-generation platforms. The manager ensures BMS hardware solutions are robust, scalable, compliant, and aligned with Caterpillar’s electrification strategy, while enabling close integration with controls, systems, validation, and suppliers.
What You Will Do:
Lead the BMS Hardware engineering team, with accountability for technical execution, staffing, organizational health, and long-term capability development.
Own the hardware architecture, design, and technical direction for BMS products, including sensing, processing, power, isolation, and interfaces to battery packs and systems.
Ensure delivery of BMS hardware through NTI, NPI, and CPI programs, supporting both current production and next-generation platforms.
Drive cross-functional integration with BMS controls/software, battery systems, power electronics, and validation teams to ensure end-to-end system performance and robustness.
Provide technical and strategic leadership to broader electronics development, influencing common hardware architectures, design standards, and best practices across electronic control, power conversion, and battery system domains.
Provide technical leadership for supplier engagement and sourcing decisions, including architecture tradeoffs, design reviews, and alignment to safety, regulatory, and durability requirements.
Communicate technical status, risks, and mitigation plans clearly to engineering leadership, ensuring predictable execution and no surprises at program gateways or production release.
What You Will Have:
Bachelor's degree in an engineering field
Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Extensive experience and knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.
Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Extensive experience and knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
Effective Communications: Extensive experience and understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
Technical Excellence: Extensive experience and knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
Collaborating Globally: Working knowledge of effective collaboration techniques and ability to build networks with people from different countries and cultures, think and work with them to bring positive impact and flourishing business results.
Project Management: Extensive experience and knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
What Will Set You Apart:
Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering
Experience with battery systems, BMS hardware architectures, and high-reliability electronics
Familiarity with supplier-designed components and global sourcing models
Strong ability to lead cross-organizational technical discussions and influence system-level decisions
Proven track record operating at a manager-of-managers or senior manager interface level

This position is located in Mossville, IL and requires 5-day on-site availability
Domestic relocation is available for this role

Summary Pay Range:
$147,760.00 - $221,640.00
