Morgan Stanley Family Office - MSFO Client Coverage, Vice President/Executive Director
Morgan Stanley Family Office (MSFO) within Private Wealth Management is responsible for delivering solutions to Family Office clients across investment management, administration and specialized service needs. MSFO is a critical partner to the Firm’s top advisors and clients, and works heavily with the Global Investment Office (GIO) and Institutional Securities Group (ISG).
Role and Responsibilities
Family Office Client Coverage is a senior leadership role who acts as the interface between the Financial Advisor and their MSFO client, and the MSFO Partners across the firm. In this position, Family Office Client Coverage works closely with the Financial Advisor to manage and prioritize client requests, but also proactively propose the full depth of MSFO capabilities relevant to the client unique needs. The role’s paramount priority is to deliver an exceptional and consistent client experience while working with different Advisors.
As a strategic partner to the Advisors, Family Office Client Coverage drives the response to complex client requests and navigates the Firm’s organization to deliver the best solution across topics as varied as investment management, asset administration, family governance, estate planning, family office operations, or wealth education to name a few. Comfortable with ambiguity, Family Office Client Coverage knows how to bring together the resources available at Morgan Stanley to address wide-ranging client demands.
Key responsibilities include:
- Partner with Financial Advisors and MSFO Client Development team to identify MSFO clients’ unique needs to facilitate thoughtful and targeted delivery of MSFO capabilities
- Liaise with MSFO Client Development team, Client Experience team and Institutional Infrastructure Solutions (IIS) to oversee a smooth transition from the sales cycle through seamless onboarding
- Align with Investment Office team to initiate institutional investment process
- Establish trust and credibility with the family and/or Family Office through direct interaction to understand and proactively address client needs
- Navigate the organization and collaborate across different Subject Matter Experts to help design the best solution to client requests
- Memorialize and drive strategic vision for the client relationship based on clients’ current and future needs, informed by best practices across the client peer group
- Lead MSFO client working group meetings to ensure effective information sharing and align partners on top priorities and next steps
- Share best practices and solved issues with other MSFO Client Coverage Leads to create a consistent standard of care across clients
- Provide feedback to MSFO Leadership and MSFO Strategy team on important client updates, particularly those that will inform areas of capability enhancement
- Ensure adherence to Firm’s risk and compliance policies by strictly following Legal, Risk, and Compliance guidelines; Monitor overall risk across the MSFO relationship
Qualifications
The Family Office Client Coverage role requires exceptional client-facing and interpersonal skills, as well as relationship building skills. The candidate should demonstrate a superior ability to multitask and prioritize requests. The role is fast-paced and demanding, and requires to collaborate with senior leadership in various groups across the Firm.
- 7+ years’ experience in financial services, wealth management and/or business strategy &
- management and/or other related fields
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field is required
- Exceptional client-facing, interpersonal, and client service skills
- Experience with Ultra High-Net Worth clients or working within a Family Office is highly preferred
- Strong understanding of investment products across all asset classes
- Outstanding team working, relationship building, and cross-collaboration skills
- Excellent organization and prioritization skills
- High level of attention to detail, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A track record of success and a demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment and discretion Series 7, 63, or 66 licenses required or willingness to get within 90 days of hire

VP - Expected base pay rates for the role will be between 110,000 and 190,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
ED - Expected base pay rates for the role will be between 150,000 and 250,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
