As a Facilities Operations Technician II – General, you will support the reliability, safety, and lifecycle performance of mission-critical facility systems within hyperscale data centers. This role is ideal for technicians transitioning from HVAC, electrical, mechanical, industrial, commercial facilities, or building operations environments into data center operations. You will build foundational knowledge while contributing to system reliability, supporting troubleshooting efforts, and learning how standards, maintenance, and upgrades protect uptime.

Key Responsibilities
Support the operation, inspection, and maintenance of critical facility systems, including electrical, mechanical, cooling, controls, and supporting infrastructure.
Support upgrades, retrofits, and expansions, including participation in maintenance planning, commissioning activities, and operational acceptance processes.
Partner with site operations teams to improve maintainability, safe execution of work, and documentation quality, including procedures, logs, one-lines, drawings, settings, and test plans.
Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders, such as vendors and service providers, while learning applicable safety, operational, and technical standards.
Background in HVAC, electrical, mechanical, industrial maintenance, commercial building operations, or critical facility environments; data center experience is not required.
Hands-on experience in facilities maintenance, field service, plant operations, manufacturing, or technical operations environments.
Technical certification, trade experience, military technical training, apprenticeship completion, or equivalent practical experience preferred.
Preferred Skills / Certifications
Exposure to electrical systems, HVAC equipment, mechanical plant systems, generators, UPS systems, controls, BMS, EPMS, or industrial support systems.
Ability to read basic technical drawings, schematics, one-lines, P&IDs, and equipment manuals.
Schneider Electric, Siemens, Johnson Controls, Trane, Vertiv, Eaton, ABB, or similar manufacturer training is a plus.
Physical Demands / Work Environment
This is a mission-critical role supporting 24/7 operations where 100% uptime is essential; as such, regular attendance and flexibility for shift-based schedules are required. To perform these duties, you must be able to frequently walk, bend, kneel, crouch, push/pull objects, and climb stairs. You will be required to lift or move up to 39 pounds independently and participate in group lifts for loads 40 pounds or greater. Additionally, you must be capable of maintaining balance while working from a ladder or elevated platforms. These tasks are performed in an industrial environment and must be executed safely, with or without reasonable accommodation, to maintain the continuous health of the facility infrastructure.
