Who we’re looking for
Toyota’s TMNA Production Engineering (PE) Paint Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Engineer.
The primary responsibility of this role is to manage area project schedules for new equipment installation, new model introduction, shop capacity studies and overall facilitation with related plant production groups.
Reporting to the Regional Manager, the person in this role will support the Paint department's objective to effectively manage capital projects, new model introductions, and provide necessary support to ensure smooth daily operations. In addition, this position will assist others in their On-Job-Duties (OJD).
What you’ll be doing
Manage area project planning, implementation, and follow-up to achieve KPIs and critical milestones
Create project schedules and budgets for new and modified processes
Support new model introductions (equipment modifications, process jigs, etc.)
Create scope of work and define roles/responsibilities within the project
Review and/or design mechanical, structural, electrical, controls and P&ID drawings.
Oversee several planned construction and commissioning work during non-production time and ensure equipment ready for production start
Review site safety management plans for construction jobs
Lead process development through process design, machine specification, equipment procurement and installation, safety risk assessments and process trials based on project milestones and events.
Execute onsite equipment modifications during non-production time (weekends, holidays, etc.)
Participate in team kaizen and organizational improvement activities
Interact with inside and outside groups to divide responsibilities and resolve conflicts.
What you bring
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Field, Engineering Technology degree or at least 3 years of equivalent experience
Proficient knowledge in MS Office applications (MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Project)
Experience reviewing and redlining AutoCAD and/or similar modeling software (Electrical or Mechanical)
Working knowledge of USA construction and safety codes/laws
2+ years of experience coordinating equipment installations and/or writing equipment specifications
3+ years of experience reviewing mechanical, structural, P&ID, and/or electrical drawings
2+ years of experience in manufacturing or industrial environment, preferably Paint or coating application experience
1.5 years of experience in development of machine risk assessment, machine safe-guarding, and/or Control of Hazardous Energy (CoHE)
2+ years in equipment buy-off or Kanban process
Ability to work weekends, holiday periods, and shutdowns to support equipment modifications and installation projects (Overtime up to 25%)
Ability to travel to other North American Manufacturing Centers (NAMCs) as needed (up to 20%)
Added bonus if you have
3+ years of experience with Paint shop process and/or typical Paint shop equipment
2+ years of experience with fluid distribution systems
2+ years of experience with conveyor systems
2+ years of experience with PLC and/or other equipment or machine control systems
2+ years of experience with modifying existing process equipment
2+ years of experience working with Production and Maintenance members in a Production environment
