Key Job Responsibilities
Maintain a minimum annual repair efficiency of 85%, ensuring high standards of workmanship and consistent delivery of quality repairs.
Keep rework hours under 3% of billed labor hours by performing accurate initial repairs and thorough testing.
Adhere strictly to standard repair times to meet balanced scorecard objectives, promoting efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Prioritize safety by following all regulatory requirements and internal protocols to create a secure working environment.
Oversee meticulous documentation for all work performed, maintaining accurate records and implementing contamination control measures to safeguard equipment integrity.
Provide comprehensive and precise repair estimates while delivering outstanding customer service that fosters trust and long-term relationships.
Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues utilizing advanced troubleshooting techniques, ensuring repairs are complete and equipment functions optimally.
Conduct rigorous testing and validation of all repairs and adjustments to confirm reliability and compliance with quality standards before returning equipment to service.
Apply detailed failure analysis protocols to identify root causes of complex mechanical problems, facilitating effective and timely solutions.
Provide leadership and mentorship to junior technicians, fostering skill development and promoting a collaborative team environment.
Continuously seek opportunities to improve processes and repair methodologies to advance operational excellence.
Qualifications/Requirements
A high school diploma or GED is required; an Associate Degree in Diesel Technology or a related technical field is preferred and highly valued.
At least 5 years of relevant experience in heavy equipment maintenance, repair, or a closely related area, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Flexibility to work various shifts and schedules, accommodating the needs of a 24/7 operational environment when necessary.
Essential Skills:
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with team members, supervisors, and customers.
- Strong customer service orientation with a focus on understanding and meeting client needs.
- Solid proficiency in basic arithmetic and computer literacy for accurate documentation and use of diagnostic tools.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical and technical issues efficiently.
- Comprehensive mechanical knowledge and hands-on skills pertinent to heavy equipment repair.
Additional Information
- Mandatory certification to operate forklifts and/or manlifts ensures safe handling of equipment during repair processes.
- Certifications such as MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) and respirator training may be required to comply with workplace safety standards.
- Candidates must possess a basic mechanics toolset to perform daily duties effectively.
- A valid driver's license is required to facilitate travel between sites or job locations as needed.
