Onsite Presence: Approximately 20%-50%, depending on project phase, reporting needs, and portfolio priorities
Job Description
We are seeking a Project Controls Scheduler to own integrated scheduling, schedule analytics, and execution visibility across complex data center, mission-critical, and infrastructure delivery projects. This role leads the development, maintenance, and governance of project and portfolio schedules, validates schedule assumptions in the field, and converts progress, risk, cost, procurement, logistics, commissioning, and turnover data into clear forecasts and actionable recovery plans.
The Project Controls Scheduler Lead serves as a senior scheduling and project controls resource, bridging project teams, construction leadership, suppliers, manufacturing partners, logistics stakeholders, commissioning teams, operations partners, and portfolio leadership. Success requires deep CPM scheduling expertise, advanced Primavera capability, disciplined project controls practices, strong analytics, and the ability to connect field realities to executive-level reporting and decision making.
Key Responsibilities
Schedule Leadership & Integrated Planning
- Lead development, maintenance, and governance of integrated project schedules, portfolio milestone trackers, and schedule reporting rhythms.
- Build, status, analyze, and maintain CPM schedules in Oracle Primavera Cloud, including critical path, near-critical path, float, sequencing, constraints, milestones, and logic quality.
- Create short-term execution plans, lookaheads, recovery schedules, what-if scenarios, baseline comparisons, and forecast updates that support timely delivery.
- Integrate general contractor, subcontractor, supplier, manufacturing, logistics, QA/QC, commissioning, operations, and turnover schedule inputs into a consolidated controls view.
-
Validate schedule assumptions, progress updates, constraints, and readiness conditions through direct field engagement and stakeholder coordination.
Project Controls, Analytics & Executive Reporting
- Support cost and schedule integration, variance analysis, recovery forecasting, and project or portfolio health reporting.
- Prepare executive dashboards, performance scorecards, KPI summaries, action trackers, and narrative updates that translate schedule data into clear decisions.
- Maintain data integrity across schedules, milestone logs, dependency trackers, risk registers, action logs, and reporting packages.
- Analyze schedule, cost, progress, productivity, risk, and delivery data to identify trends, bottlenecks, drift, and improvement opportunities.
- Develop or improve reporting workflows that provide timely project health indicators and reduce manual reporting burden.
Risk, Recovery & Dependency Management
- Identify, quantify, and escalate schedule risks, critical dependencies, delayed decisions, long-lead procurement issues, supplier constraints, and turnover risks before they impact milestones.
- Track mitigation plans, recovery actions, owners, due dates, and closure status with strong follow-through discipline.
- Support schedule recovery, supply chain, manufacturing, logistics, safety, risk, commissioning, and turnover reviews.
- Maintain recovery forecasts, risk registers, dependency trackers, and escalation reports across assigned projects.
- Facilitate alignment between project teams and leadership when change impacts schedule, cost, delivery, startup, or turnover readiness.
Supply Chain, Turnover & Field Coordination
- Track long-lead procurement, supplier readiness, material availability, prefab/OSA/manufacturing readiness, logistics constraints, and site delivery conditions that affect schedule performance.
- Support turnover readiness tracking, including turnover package completeness, readiness gates, handoff issues, punch list trends, commissioning milestones, and operations handoff milestones.
- Participate in field walks, schedule reviews, recovery meetings, supplier readiness reviews, logistics coordination, commissioning reviews, and turnover readiness checks.
- Compare schedule, supply, logistics, construction, commissioning, and turnover assumptions against actual site conditions.
- Escalate constraints early and clearly so teams can protect milestones, turnover dates, and startup readiness.
Leadership, Tools & Continuous Improvement
- Serve as a scheduling subject matter expert Oracle Primavera Cloud, and related controls or reporting tools.
- Establish schedule standards, update cadence, coding structures, reporting expectations, quality checks, and governance practices.
- Mentor schedulers, project controls analysts, and project team members on scheduling discipline, logic quality, reporting, and recovery planning.
- Document and maintain project controls SOPs, schedule management processes, dashboard standards, and continuous improvement recommendations.
- Promote TPM-style execution discipline through clear actions, owners, due dates, escalation paths, accountability, and action closure.
Internal Responsibilities
Required Skills and Experience
- 7-9+ years of experience in project controls, scheduling, construction project management, technical program management, or portfolio controls, preferably in data centers, mission-critical facilities, high-tech infrastructure, or complex industrial construction.
- Advanced hands-on experience with Primavera P6 and/or Oracle Primavera Cloud, including the ability to build, status, analyze, and govern CPM schedules.
- Strong understanding of critical path method, float management, sequencing logic, schedule constraints, milestones, baseline management, forecast management, and recovery scheduling.
- Experience integrating contractor, subcontractor, supplier, manufacturing, logistics, commissioning, QA/QC, operations, and turnover schedules.
- Working knowledge of cost tracking, forecasting, variance analysis, change control, risk management, milestone reporting, and project controls governance.
- Ability to validate project status, constraints, progress, and readiness conditions in the field and reconcile field conditions with schedule forecasts.
- Experience maintaining risk registers, dependency trackers, action logs, mitigation plans, executive dashboards, and reporting packages.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to work with large datasets and translate complex schedule and controls information into clear, actionable insights.
- Familiarity with procurement tracking, supplier readiness, logistics coordination, prefab, OSA, manufacturing, or industrialized delivery models.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, organization, attention to detail, follow-through, and cross-functional leadership skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, project management, a technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- PMP, PMI-SP, PSP, AACE, or related project controls certification.
- Experience leading schedule governance across a portfolio of simultaneous projects.
- Experience with data center construction, commissioning, startup, turnover, QA/QC readiness gates, or mission-critical operations.
- Experience developing automated dashboards, project controls analytics, or standardized reporting using business intelligence, database, or advanced spreadsheet tools.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor project controls team members and build scalable scheduling practices.
Success in This Role Looks Like
Schedules are accurate, logically sound, current, field-informed, and trusted by project teams and leadership. Critical path risks, float erosion, dependencies, procurement constraints, logistics issues, and turnover blockers are identified early. Recovery plans are clear, actionable, owner-driven, and tracked to closure. Leadership receives accurate, concise, decision-ready visibility across schedule, cost, supply chain, material readiness, commissioning, safety, and turnover performance.
