Oracle Cloud Infrastructure is seeking an experienced Director of Network Engineering to lead the OCL Global Networking Platform Engineering team. This team is responsible for the design, build, lifecycle management, and operational readiness of the physical network platform that supports Oracle’s global backbone and Internet connectivity.
This role owns the engineering strategy and execution for network hardware platforms, circuit capacity, carrier interconnects, and the physical connectivity foundations required to scale Oracle’s global cloud network. The Director will lead a team of engineers responsible for translating business growth, regional expansion, capacity demand, reliability requirements, and technology evolution into deployable, supportable network platform solutions.
The ideal candidate has deep experience building and operating large-scale global networks, strong technical judgment across network hardware and carrier infrastructure, and a proven record of leading engineering teams in cloud, service provider, or large enterprise environments. This leader must operate effectively across architecture, capacity planning, deployment, operations, procurement, vendors, and executive stakeholders to deliver reliable, scalable, and cost-effective network infrastructure.
Internal Responsibilities
Lead the Global Networking Platform Engineering team responsible for Oracle’s physical network platform supporting backbone and Internet connectivity.
Define and execute the engineering strategy for network hardware, circuits, carrier interconnects, routing platforms, and related physical infrastructure.
Own platform lifecycle management, including hardware standards, vendor selection, qualification, deployment readiness, sparing strategy, capacity planning inputs, and end-of-life planning.
Partner with architecture, backbone engineering, Internet edge, data center networking, capacity planning, procurement, and operations teams to deliver scalable global network infrastructure.
Drive engineering programs that improve network reliability, deployment velocity, operational efficiency, capacity availability, and platform standardization.
Lead planning and execution for new regions, backbone expansions, Internet peering and transit capacity, circuit augmentation, and large-scale network refresh programs.
Establish technical standards, design patterns, and operational requirements for physical network deployments across Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
Manage vendor and carrier technical relationships, including roadmap alignment, hardware evaluations, service delivery issues, and escalation management.
Develop engineering processes for platform certification, deployment documentation, acceptance criteria, operational handoff, and ongoing lifecycle governance.
Use data-driven decision-making to evaluate capacity, reliability, cost, performance, failure trends, and platform health.
Build, mentor, and retain a high-performing engineering team. Set clear expectations, develop technical leaders, and maintain a culture of accountability and engineering rigor.
Represent the team in executive reviews, cross-functional planning forums, incident reviews, and strategic infrastructure discussions.
Ensure the team’s work supports Oracle’s requirements for availability, security, scalability, compliance, and cost efficiency.
Drive continuous improvement across engineering execution, documentation quality, automation adoption, and cross-team operating models.
