Business Development Market Analyst Intern
Overview
The Business Development Market Analyst Intern will support REI Systems’ federal growth strategy by assisting with research, tracking, and analysis of upcoming government acquisition opportunities. This internship provides hands-on experience in federal market intelligence, capture support, and business development processes. The intern will work closely with capture managers, business developers, and senior leadership to gain insight into how market data drives pipeline decisions, teaming strategies, and pursuit prioritization. This is an excellent opportunity for service members to develop analytical, research, and communication skills in a fast-paced federal contracting environment.

Responsibilities
Market Intelligence & Research
- Assist in identifying and tracking upcoming federal GWACs, IDIQs, DWACs, GSA Schedules, and agency-specific procurements.
- Help collect and organize data on federal budgets, spending patterns, and procurement forecasts to support strategic analysis.
- Gather and synthesize information from GovWin, SAM.gov, FPDS, USAspending.gov, and agency forecasts for team use.
Pipeline Support & Opportunity Qualification
- Maintain opportunity tracking and support pipeline governance.
- Assist in evaluating opportunities for alignment with REI’s strategic goals and capture readiness.
- Prepare summaries and basic reports to support growth meetings and executive briefings.
Competitive & Partner Analysis
- Support development of competitive intelligence summaries, including potential competitors and teaming partners.
- Help maintain a partner/competitor database aligned to REI’s strategic priorities.
Capture & Proposal Support
- Assist capture managers with research for call plans, contact mapping, and customer engagement.
- Support proposal content development and contribute market insights for bid/no-bid decisions.
Internal Enablement
- Prepare basic market briefings, opportunity snapshots, and competitive assessments for business unit leaders.
- Support refinement of research methodologies and reporting tools.
- Collaborate with BD, Capture, Proposal, and Delivery teams to ensure accurate and consistent market data.

Skills & Qualifications
- Interest in federal government contracting, business development, or capture management.
- Familiarity with federal procurement processes (FAR, RFP/RFI structure, acquisition lifecycle) is a plus but not required.
- Strong research, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills; able to summarize and present findings clearly.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and eager to learn in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Exposure to tools such as GovWin IQ, FPDS, USAspending, or SAM.gov is a plus.
- Preferably someone with industry experience and existing customer relationships within the Department of Defense (DoD) / Department of War agencies.
