Job Summary and Qualifications
The Laboratory Assistant provides clerical and phlebotomy services for the Laboratory in a timely, efficient and courteous manner. The Laboratory Assistant demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age appropriate care to neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Answer telephone efficiently and courteously, and transfer calls effectively.
- Is familiar with medical terminology, basic computer skills and specimen requirements.
- Orders tests in Meditech if necessary
- Receive specimens into computer and process them for testing.
- Will comply with universal precautions and adhere to safety standards and practices.
- Phlebotomy and urine collection.
- Cheerfully greets customers as soon as they arrive.
- Miscellaneous tasks such as receiving/stocking supplies or distributing mail/faxes.
- Print and distribute reports as required.
- Collect urine for drug screens and accurately process paperwork.
- Demonstrates a commitment to the Power of One Gulf Coast Division Standards of Behavior.
- May be assigned to other tasks and/or required to vary schedule to meet the needs of the Laboratory & patients.
What qualifications you will need:

- Medical terminology is desirable
