Job Summary and Qualifications
As a Radiation Therapist, your primary function is to administer prescribed doses of radiation to patients, using radiation therapy equipment according to established practices and standards. In addition:
· You are responsible for verifying prescribed treatment dose, specific body parts to be treated and angles to be used.
· You will place and immobilize the patient to ensure accurate treatment. Maintain constant contact with the patient to assure they remain in proper position throughout treatment.
· You must assure placement of protective devices to shield healthy exposed tissue of patients.
· Chart treatment details and report any abnormal conditions to the radiation oncologist.
· You are expected to provide appropriate teaching to patients and families.
What qualifications you will need:
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
- (ARRT-T) Radiation Therapy
- Associate Degree, or Bachelors Degree
