Job Description BAE Systems is seeking a General Ledger Accountant to work remotely for the Electronic Systems (ES) Sector. This position will be performed in a
full-time remote work format. While this is fully remote,
it is strongly preferred that applicants reside within approximately 2 hours driving distance of our offices in Nashua, NH, as there will be an expectation of availability for occasional in-person meetings and staff gatherings.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Prepare and post complex journal entries, ensuring accounting transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
- Perform complex analysis and reconciliation of general ledger account activity, researching and resolving discrepancies as needed.
- Support monthly, half-year, and year-end close activities, including financial reporting requirements and data requests.
- Serve as a key liaison to the Controls team and coordinate accounting requests related to internal and external audits.
- Perform and document quarterly control self-assessments in Archer, ensuring assessments are completed accurately and timely, supporting documentation is maintained, and any identified issues or required follow-up actions are appropriately addressed.
- Manage lease accounting activities in accordance with IFRS 16, including the timely and accurate recording of all new leases and lease adjustments in LeaseAccelerator. Review lease information for completeness and accuracy, perform related analysis and reconciliations, and ensure lease accounting activity is appropriately reflected in the general ledger and financial reporting.
- Perform complex analysis and review of gross wages reconciliations, including developing and maintaining processes to reconcile items requiring a high level of expertise and analysis of large data sets.
- Participate in the development, testing, and implementation of system tools and enhancements to strengthen accounting processes and capabilities.
- Perform testing, document findings, and participate in cross-functional meetings supporting payroll and timekeeping system projects.
- Support the monthly Sunday subledger close process in Oracle on a rotational basis. Participation is required at least once per quarter and may be required more frequently based on business needs and team coverage.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and proactively identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Complete government survey requests and other requests for financial information accurately and timely.
- Serve as backup to the General Ledger Accountant Principal and General Ledger Accountant Senior Principal, as needed.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills Bachelor’s degree and at least 4 years of relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Previous accounting experience, including knowledge of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial close processes.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with diverse work teams.
Ability to develop and maintain professional and effective relationships with internal and external customers.
Ability to prioritize and self-manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
Experience communicating and presenting financial data to other functions in an accurate, concise, and understandable manner.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
ERP system experience; Oracle experience preferred.
Pay InformationFull-Time Salary Range: $82779 - $140723
