Job Summary and Qualifications
The Bariatric Nurse Navigator functions as a member of the bariatric multidisciplinary team and serves as an advocate and educator for bariatric patients, from preoperative to the postoperative status.
The Bariatric Nurse Navigator is responsible for assisting in all aspects of the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Program. S/he will work with patients to include, inpatients, outpatients, physicians, allied health professionals, and the community through program development, planning, organizing, implementation, assessment and patient education for the bariatric program. To collect and submit accurate, complete, and timely data to the MBSAQIP Data Registry Platform.
S/he will service as a resource that navigates patients through complex healthcare environments for the optimization of care and outcomes. S/he assists in the planning, organizing, facilitating, coordinating and delegating of high-quality care to the defined group of patients served by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Program and clinic. bariatric clinic.
What qualifications you will need:
-Graduate of an accredited associates, or baccalaureate degree nursing program
-Minimum of one year of nursing experience in a Bariatric Center of excellence or in bariatric surgical patient management
-Preferred: Bachelor of Science of Nursing
Minimum License, Certificates, or Registrations Required:
Nursing License in the State of Texas
Preferred current Certified Bariatric Nurse or within 24 months of hire
Successfully completion of the MBSCR Online Training Program
