Sysco is seeking a Transportation Director to provide strategic and operational leadership for our Delivery organization. This highly visible leadership role is responsible for the overall safety, efficiency, financial performance, regulatory compliance, and customer-service execution of the transportation operation.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and develop Delivery Supervisors, routing personnel, and transportation associates.
- Provide oversight of daily delivery operations, route execution, staffing, and productivity.
- Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, electronic logging requirements, and company safety standards.
- Monitor and improve key transportation KPIs, routing efficiency, productivity, and customer-service performance.
- Manage labor hours, fuel, travel, supplies, and other transportation expenses within budget.
- Prepare and manage budgets, profit plans, and capital requests.
- Identify and implement cost-saving, productivity, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
- Optimize routing, scheduling, backhauls, and delivery utilization to improve operational efficiency and profitability.
- Partner closely with Sales and other cross-functional teams to resolve customer and delivery concerns.
- Visit customer locations when necessary to evaluate delivery challenges and develop solutions.
- Champion a strong safety culture through training, observations, inspections, accident investigations, and root-cause analysis.
- Lead associate selection, development, coaching, performance management, and engagement initiatives.
What We’re Looking For
- 7+ years of related transportation, delivery, distribution, or logistics experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Proven experience leading transportation/delivery teams and frontline leaders.
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, OSHA requirements, safety, and transportation compliance.
- Experience with routing, scheduling, transportation KPIs, and productivity systems.
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, labor, fuel, expenses, and operational costs.
- Demonstrated success improving operational efficiency and driving continuous improvement.
- Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and employee-development skills.
- A customer-focused mindset with the ability to partner effectively across multiple areas of the business.
