Job Summary and Qualifications
Position Objective:
The Operating Room RN reports to the Director of Surgical Services, and works under the direct supervision of the departments Nurse Clinical Leader. He/she is responsible for providing direct care to patients undergoing surgical procedures in the Operating Room.
The RN assures the provision of high quality patient care, utilizes equipment appropriately, fosters a cooperative, and collaborative relationship with physicians, and establishes and maintains good internal and external customer relationships. The RN fosters a team approach to providing care that is safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient, and equitable. The RN performs all functions according to hospital policies, nursing standards of care, practice guidelines, AORN recommended practices, and applicable regulatory and professional entities within the scope of RN practice.
Patient Population Served:
The Operating Room RN is expected to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on the physical ability, intellectual development, psycho-social, educational, and safety needs of the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient.
Essential Position Functions:
The following functions must be able to be carried out by the incumbent with or without reasonable accommodation:
Works collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesia, and peri-anesthesia nurses in implementing the plan of care for patients, acting as a patient advocate and liaison with other disciplines.
Maintains a safe therapeutic environment for patients, families, staff, and corrects hazards promptly. Adheres to hospital safety policy and procedure.
Supports Department's customer service efforts. Provides service excellence to patients and their families, medical staff, peers, support services and other hospital personnel. Provides immediate and satisfactory problem resolution for valid customer complaints or refers complex customer service problems to the Director of Surgical Services.
Demonstrates knowledge of, and support for, hospital Mission and Values Statement, department goals and objectives. Assists in the formation and accomplishment of unit goals and objectives.
Develops and maintains professional relationship with physicians, peers, patients and their families, and medical support services.
Non-Essential Position Functions: Participates in hospital/unit committees.
Performs other duties as needed or as judgment dictates.
What qualifications you will need:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- (RN) Registered Nurse State of NH
- Associate Degree in Nursing
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high stress work environment. Ability to maintain customer focused interpersonal communication skills and patient confidentiality.
