Job Summary and Qualifications
As a Coordinator Infection Prevention you will be responsible for coordination, facilitation and leadership of infection prevention and control activities related to patient and health care worker safety and quality/performance improvement activities. In this role:
- You will serve as an internal consultant in regards to data collection, analysis, reporting, and team facilitation in relation to improving patient outcomes related to healthcare associated infections and infectious diseases.
- You will be responsible for developing, administering and evaluating occupational health services {prevention and control of communicable diseases and work-related illnesses, accidents and injuries}.
- You will promote safety practices in collaboration with Risk Management, the Safety Officer and Workers' Comp Coordinator as well as with staff and management employees.
- You will coordinate resolution of employee health/infection control issues with the infection control practitioner.
- You will be responsible for the education of hospital staff, volunteers, and physicians.
- You will serve as a resource person, utilizing the expertise of the Hospital Epidemiologist; providing detailed and organized employee health records.
- You will demonstrate the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the employee's needs; possesses knowledge of growth and development for all ages including adolescent, adult and geriatric.
- You will maintain an employee health data base and works with Human Resource staff to ensure workers compensation and transitional duty policies are being consistently applied.
Qualifications:
- Proficient oral and written communication skills.
- American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification within 30 days of hire
- American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Life Support Course (ALS or ACLS) and Certification within 90 days of hire
- American Red Cross or American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Course and Certification within 90 days of hir
- Has knowledge of state regulatory agency standards related to health care organizations.
- Cognitive and technical knowledge and the ability to progressively manage care delivery across the continuum of care.
- The ability to retrieve, communicate and present data and information both verbal and in writing.
- Must be flexible with work scheduling. Involves discretion and independent action within prescribed limits - open to two ten hour shifts a week, or 3 shorter shifts around candidate availability.
- Utah nursing license and 1 year of RN experience strongly preferred
- Minimum of one year clinical experience required.
