As the Emergency Room Nurse Manager at HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake in Webster, TX, you will lead a high-volume department tied to a 532-bed full-service acute care hospital, which is currently advancing a $103 million, 132,000-square-foot expansion project scheduled for completion in late 2026/early 2027. This major campus milestone includes a Main Tower vertical expansion adding a 16-bed Intensive Care Unit, a 14-bed Progressive Care Unit, and a 30-bed Medical-Surgical unit. Concurrently, a dedicated Women's Services horizontal expansion will double the service line's capacity, adding 10 new labor and delivery rooms and an additional C-section operating room to better support the facility's role as a leading maternity provider delivering over 4,000 babies annually. This rapidly evolving environment operates as a designated Level II Trauma Center and a Joint Commission-certified Comprehensive Stroke Center, complemented by a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Your service line includes comprehensive coordination support for four regional freestanding departments— including HCA Houston ER 24/7 locations in Alvin, Friendswood, Pearland, and Texas City —which provide seamless, direct admission pathways to our main facility. The campus is highly decorated for clinical quality, holding a Cycle III Accredited Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI and Resuscitation from the American College of Cardiology, a Critical Care Excellence Award from Healthgrades, and multiple Healthgrades Five-Star ratings for critical treatments.
Job Summary and Qualifications
As a Nurse Manager RN - ICU Critical Care, your voice to influence patient care is valued and empowered at every turn –whether through open, collaborative relationships with your direct manager or more formal opportunities through hospital councils and national nursing initiatives. You'll help shape decisions that elevate both patient outcomes and the future of nursing.
What you will do in this role:
- Drives NCMC mission, nursing standards, patient satisfaction, and Studer Concepts across assigned units.
- Develops four unit-specific goals aligned with the organization and documents progress for leadership.
- Encourages frontline staff to develop evidence-based practices and participate actively in department councils.
- Conducts ten monthly staff meetings annually and shares detailed updates via minutes and memos.
- Prepares and manages expense, personnel, capital, and supply budgets using advanced information systems.
- Controls overtime, PTO, and Nursing Hours per Patient Day to deliver cost-efficient, quality care.
What qualifications you will need:
- Graduate of an accredited diploma, associates, or baccalaureate degree registered nursing program.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
- Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas or Multi-State Compact License (Employees with RN Compact License are required to obtain Texas RN License within 90 days of hire date)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
- NIH Stroke Scale must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
- PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
- Trauma Nursing Core Course must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
- 3-5 years of ER experience highly desired
- 1 year of previous Leadership experience in a hospital/healthcare environment required.
