Job Summary and Qualifications
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Pharmacy Purchasing Tech reports directly to the department Manager and is directly responsible for conformity to established contractual agreements and product rebate programs. This Purchasing Tech will be the chief administrator of the monthly financial transaction reports to include accruals, floor stock charges, outlying clinic charges, and workman compensation pharmacy claim processing. Monthly velocity reports, to include contrast media, thrombolytic, and top twenty medications will be prepared and analyzed for trends and concerns. Will work in concert with the Pharmacy Systems Supervisor to ensure appropriate operation of the MedCarousel and FulFill-RX Programs. The Purchasing Tech will also supervise the anesthesia medication tray replenishment program to include responsibility for expiration date monitoring and stock integrity. Additionally, the Purchasing Tech will have direct responsibility for purchase order control, annual inventory tabulation and documentation, and the pharmacy’s return goods program. Will work with the Systems Supervisor to manage Accudose Cabinet inventory and cabinet configuration. Will be responsible for the authorized floor stock listings and coordination of reviews and updates. In conjunction with the manager, the Purchasing Tech will balance the general ledger, maintain rebate and returned good records. Will assist the general pharmacy staff in the preparation and rational distribution of pharmaceutical agents to patients of all ages, employees, and designated areas of the hospital. This shall be carried out in accordance with all state/federal laws, Joint Commission Standards, and hospital/departmental policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Reviews and interprets physician medication orders ensuring appropriate therapy.
Demonstrates a complete understanding of the policies and procedures of the department.
Adheres to and participates in the quality improvement program of the department.
Always adheres to the distribution policies of the department.
The outpatient policies and procedures of the department are carried out accurately and efficiently, providing professional outpatient pharmacy services.
Demonstrates a complete understanding of all policies and procedures concerning the responsibilities of a pharmacy technician.
Demonstrates a good judgment and decision making skills.
Demonstrates a good rapport and cooperative working relationship with others.
Demonstrates a complete understanding of the State and Federal laws governing the handling and dispensing of controlled substances. Adheres to the controlled substance distribution policies of the department.
Promotes positive Customer service with internal and external customers.
What qualifications you will need:

- (PharmTech) Pharmacy Technician License, or (PHARM-Intern) Pharmacist - Intern
