RF Antenna Engineer
KBR has an opportunity for an RF Antenna Engineer to support the SSPO Payload Engineering Branch (PEB). SSPO PEB requires an experienced antenna engineer familiar with RF space systems acquisitions to provide direct support to the Payload Branch chief, and assist in Payload System Engineering (PLSE) for the payload. This multi-disciplined position encompasses system engineering and contract technical and programmatic surveillance for the sell-off of satellite payload antenna systems, as part of a government/contractor team. The following tasks are representative of those that will be accomplished at the request of the customer:
Responsibilities include:
- Provide primary support, as required, to the customer
- Provide expert advice concerning antenna development, test, verification, validation, integration and end-to-end RF system performance activities.
- Assist in identifying, tracking, evaluating and mitigating technical, financial and schedule risks -- participate in the PEB and contractor risk management processes.
- Provide formal and informal feedback to the Branch Chief on all aspects of program status.
- Coordinate across the SPO for any proposed changes; support requirements activities with the development contractors. Assist in flow down of requirements from higher-level documents.
- Monitor, review and support payload, subsystem, and unit test and verification/validation planning and execution. Coordinate SME review and perform independent assessments of validation and verification adequacy.
- Attend segment level design reviews and program management reviews to assess design maturity, requirements compliance and to provide informed technical recommendations to the USG.
- Identify and assess emerging risks; develop and evaluate proposed burn-down plans.
- Support technical evaluations of contractor proposals.
- Review complex technical design documentation and provide formal and informal feedback to the COTR, Subject Matter Experts, and other customer personnel.
- Consult with mission analysis and acquisition teams to ensure completeness across the acquisition.
- Develop productive relationships with prime contractor counterparts, functional counterparts, and other spacecraft subsystem subject matter experts.
- Advise and mentor USG Payload Branch personnel regarding RF antenna requirements and verification.
- Evaluate contractor analysis and deliver analytic findings to the customer.
- Support and assist the customer in oversight of major program development milestones.
- Evaluate vendor schedules and resource estimates to perform work.
- Support payload activation and characterization.
- Other duties as specified by the customer.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and ten years of satellite RF antenna engineering and requirements management experience.
- Basic understanding of DOD/IC satellite systems and architectures.
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, team building and problem solving skills with a demonstrated ability to be effective in a government/contractor team environment.
- Experience in DOD/IC acquisition and program management processes.
- Experience in the development of DOD/IC mission payloads, associated phenomenology, and their effective integration into system level architectures.
- Working knowledge of the requirements process across a program’s lifecycle.
- Familiarity with Earned Value measurement processes.
- Demonstrated ability to take complex technical issues and present them in a form and format suitable for decision.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated sustained superior performance.
- Available to travel domestically.
