Position Title: Coatings, Insulation and Fireproofing Subject Matter Expert
Job Description
Functional job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Providing subject matter expertise for protective coatings and linings, hot and cryogenic thermal and acoustic insulation materials and passive fire protection material specifications for a variety of industry applications including Petrochemicals, Refining, Chemicals, LNG, Energy Transition etc. ranging in scope from pre-FEED, FEED to EPCM.
- Responsible for developing project procedures and specifications for the application of protective coatings, insulation and fireproofing materials and other related project standards to be used by multi-discipline engineers to support process, piping, civil/structural and mechanical equipment deliverable production. Examples include, specifying coating materials for piping and mechanical equipment in various project climates, specifying the required insulation type and thickness for piping and mechanical equipment, specifying structural steel fireproofing material types and internal linings for vessels and storage tanks.
- Responsible for producing Coating, Insulation and Fireproofing Data Sheets (CIFDS) for individual equipment or equipment packages.
- Additional Responsibilities include:
- Development of coating, insulation, and fireproofing purchasing specifications,
- Generation of the required technical and project standards,
- Establishment of inspection and testing requirements,
- Reviewing vendor's quotes and quality assurance procedures for coating, insulation, and fireproofing material compliance,
- Technical evaluation of material substitutions and preparation of subcontract documents,
- Assures that all issued specifications follow applicable industry codes, acceptable industry practice, client specifications.
Job Qualifications
- Minimum of 15 years’ experience in protective coatings, thermal and acoustic insulation, and passive fire protection for LNG, petrochemical, specialty chemical and refining industries.
- Experienced in: supervision and managing technical queries from multiple projects, heat transfer calculations and creation of insulation thickness tables; vendor design reviews; preparation of specifications and standards; materials management; developing engineering and construction estimates; managing engineering budgets; procurement and subcontract bid preparation; evaluation and recommendation of materials; application methods of variety of coating applications; responding to construction field RFI’s; and building networks with specialty contractors.
- Must have experience in insulation systems for cryogenic and high temperature applications and protective coatings for LNG and Refinery applications.
- Preferred experience also in passive fire protection, equipment linings and applications in marine / hostile environments.
