Job Summary and Qualifications
The Mother Baby Unit Secretary performs necessary clerical duties by computing and maintaining records for a nursing unit. Overall management of the nursing station including taking off physicians orders, answering telephones, answering patient call lights, ordering supplies and obtaining supplies and other duties as needed. Accepts additional tasks assigned. The Mother Baby Unit Secretary may include direct supervision of students at the discretion of the area supervisor. The Unit Secretary must have the same licensure or have completed the same training to satisfy the requirements of the discipline of the student.
What qualifications you will need:
Education: High School Grad or Equivalent
This position is contingent on with providing proof of immunity for MMR, Varicella and Tdapt (1 adult dose), or may elect to receive the vaccine/vaccines free of charge if needed when completing pre-employment physical with Employee Health based on pre-employment titer results.
Basic reading comprehension required
Experience: Knowledge of medical terminology desirable. Experience as a ward clerk or unit secretary in specialty area preferred. Performs in accordance with delineated job responsibilities and satisfactorily completes a yearly evaluation based on these responsibilities. Must possess the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively meet the needs of the patient/internal & external customer.
