Job Summary and Qualifications
This position is responsible for the general daily care of psychologically, emotionally and intellectually impaired patients assigned by a clinician or clinical manager. This position organizes the resources necessary to accomplish discharge goals established in the recovery plan for patients. Gathers sufficient information from all relevant sources in order to plan for the discharge of the patients assigned. Determines the discharge plan’s effectiveness and discusses options with the clinician and doctors.
- Adheres to the Hospital’s Safety Policies and demonstrates safe practices in providing patient care. Maintains high level of awareness regarding safety in the environment.
- Provides direct daily care to psychiatric patients, including safety checks, vital signs, escorts and transports as assigned by Charge Nurse, and other duties as assigned.
- Assists the activities therapy staff in recreational therapy and activities with patients.
- Models, teaches, and reinforces appropriate behavior for patients and supports treatment team interventions
- Facilitates process groups, goals groups, educational groups and problem-solving groups for patients and for staff as required and assigned. Understands, and can influence, group dynamics in the therapeutic milieu.
- Communicates clearly in verbal and written formats. Reports any patient data or behavior falling outside expected parameters to team members. Documents all pertinent information clearly and concisely in the medical record
- Participates as a member of the treatment team to provide safe, effective, timely, and compassionate care to patients. Provides feedback to other team members to promote continuous quality improvement.
- Assists with discharge planning activities and tasks for all patients as directed and assigned by the clinicians.
What qualifications you will need:
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 7 days of employment start date
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date
- (DL) Driver License
