Job Summary and Qualifications
Injury prevention starts long before a patient reaches the hospital. As a Trauma Injury Prevention Coordinator, you will lead education, community partnerships, and prevention programs that help protect patients and improve community health. In this role, you will provide training and injury prevention education to nurses, EMS providers, healthcare teams, and community groups. You will also help develop strategies that reduce injury risk, support better outcomes, and uphold high standards for trauma outreach and community care.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and implementing community injury prevention programs using trauma data and community needs
- Building partnerships with EMS, public health agencies, schools, and community organizations to grow outreach efforts
- Educating nurses, EMS, healthcare providers, and the public through training and prevention programs
- Ensuring compliance with American College of Surgeons (ACS), state, and local trauma outreach standards
- Measuring program impact by evaluating results, identifying trends, and improving prevention efforts
- Strengthening communication and collaboration with EMS and referring facilities to support shared prevention goals
What qualifications you will need:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or Public Health Preferred
- Master’s Degree in Nursing or Public Health Preferred
- 3+ years experience in acute care Required
- 3+ years experience in trauma care Preferred
- TNCC required within 6 months
- Experience in Injury Prevention and Outreach Activities Preferred
- Experience in Quality/Performance Improvement Preferred
- Experience in Project Management Preferred
