Job Summary and Qualifications
- The Manager of Laboratory Services is responsible for the activities, supervision, management and direction of the Laboratory Department in accordance with organizational and departmental philosophy and goals
- In this position, youi will assist the Director in maintaining the highest degree of clinical and operational performance of the Department and lead Laboratory personnel and/ or students, and function as a resource for physicians, nursing staff and patients
- You will be responsible for the delivery of professional care and provides leadership to staff and will require basic understanding and ability to utilize the Laboratory process, develop and enforce guidelines of medical plan of care and departmental policies
- You will assess patients in order to plan, intervene and evaluate care and under the direction of the Director of Laboratory., will be responsible for the direction, planning, development, coordination, and monitoring of all activities associated with assigned technical area(s) and management of assigned staff
- You will also be responsible for additional area(s) of laboratory operation such as compliance, timekeeper system, staff scheduling, point-of-care testing, quality assurance and/or performance improvement as assigned
- You will direct and monitor the activities of the clinical laboratory and pathology services in the absence of the Administrative Director
What qualifications you will need:
- Valid State of California license: Clinical Laboratory Scientist OR (CMS) Clinical Microbiologist Scientist Licensure from CDPH
- 0 Mos – 1 Year of clinical laboratory experience in front-line supervision required
- 5 Years of clinical laboratory experience in assigned technical areas required
- Comprehensive knowledge of general laboratory technical and non-technical principles, practices and techniques
- Strong interpersonal skills that demonstrate a positive attitude and a sense of commitment to the mission and vision of the hospital and the Clinical Laboratory
- Ability to write clear, concise procedures and policies
- Degree of Supervision required: Minimal, individual proceeds on his/her own initiative, in compliance with policies, practices and procedures prescribed by laboratory administration and by the hospital’s Operations Division
- Requires understanding of and ability to utilize the Laboratory process; Requires knowledge, ability and judgment necessary to: Exercise judgment within the guidelines of the medical plan of care, department policy and licensure practice
