Job Summary and Qualifications
Manages/supervises departmental staff/personnel through direction provided to the Clinical Coordinators.
Assists Surgical Services staff to achieve their potential as members of an effective team through innovative management practices.
Manages all direct and indirect nursing care given to the patients within the Surgical Services department to ensure optimal patient care. Manages the daily operations of assigned departments within Surgical Services including departmental support services such as the Operating Room scheduling and departmental charging.
Communicates effectively, both written and verbally, with all members of the Healthcare Team, customers and key stakeholders.
Prepares, implements, and monitors the operational and capital budgets to ensure sound fiscal management for the operating room. Manages departmental products and equipment in a cost effective manner.
Ensures the departments within Surgical Services maintains appropriate documentation. Promotes and monitors-departmental safety. Compiles statistical information as directed by OR Committee or the Director.
Serves as a professional role model for the Surgical Services Team.
Pursues own professional growth through continuing education, participation in a professional organization and inservices.
Actively participates in Hospital and Community activities to ensure that the role of the Peri-operative organization is advanced/marketed in order to recruit and maintain staff.
Education & Experience:
Two years of current experience in peri-operative nursing in which leadership and management abilities have been demonstrated – Required
Current Virginia State licensure by the State Board of Nursing as a Registered Professional Nurse. Current management experience in Peri-operative Nursing Practice – Required
Bachelor’s Degree - Preferred
