About This Job
Air and Space Force Solutions, a business unit within BAE Systems, has an opening at our Hill Air Force Base, Utah location for a Mid-Level Network Engineer to work on our network team. The selected candidate will join our Information Services team and have an important role in supporting our mission of Strategic Deterrence through continual improvement and innovation. The position will have the following duties and responsibilities:
- Administer, configure, and optimize enterprise‑grade routing and switching platforms (e.g., Cisco IOS/NX‑OS, Juniper, Arista)
- Implement and manage firewalls, VPN solutions, network segmentation, and Zero‑Trust security principles
- Design, document, and maintain LAN/WAN architectures, including redundancy, load balancing, and failover strategies
- Interpret and apply government security frameworks such as RMF, ACAS, HBSS/Trellix, and IAVM bulletins
- Conduct root‑cause analysis for complex network issues and provide long‑term corrective actions
- Utilize network monitoring and performance‑analysis tools (SolarWinds, Wireshark) to ensure reliability and availability
- Automate network tasks through scripting (PowerShell, Python, Ansible) to improve efficiency and reduce manual work
- Manage change‑control processes, documentation standards, and configuration baselines in compliance‑driven environments
- Collaborate effectively with system administrators, cybersecurity teams, vendors, and program managers on integrated technical efforts
- Support lifecycle operations such as patching, version upgrades, hardware refresh, and secure de‑provisioning of legacy network components
- Demonstrate hands‑on proficiency with identity and directory services (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP), including troubleshooting and integration
- Apply STIG compliance to network devices (Cisco IOS/NX‑OS, switches, routers, firewalls) and validate adherence through automated or manual scanning
- Maintain accuracy and completeness of operational documentation, SOPs, runbooks, and CMDB records
- Demonstrate structured, logical troubleshooting methodology using logs, packet captures, and telemetry data
- Operate effectively under mission‑critical conditions with competing priorities, providing clear communication during outages or escalations
- Research emerging trends, techniques, methods, and current best practices
- Any other duties as assigned

Required Education, Experience, & Skills Education and Experience Requirements are as follows:
- HS diploma and 16+ years of related experience, or
- BS/BA and 12+ years of related experience, or
- MA/MS with 10+ years of related experience
- Related experience should be in network engineering, design, configuration, maintenance, patching, and upgrades
- The successful candidate should be able to:
- Communicate effectively with internal and external resources necessary to successfully complete assignments or projects
- Proactively manage and prioritize multiple related projects, assignments, timelines, milestones, and follow-up communications
- Troubleshoot and resolve daily support tickets, including end-user support via phone, email, and remote control
- Utilize DISA STIG checklists to assess and document compliance
Certification Requirement

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills:
- Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS)
- Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations
- Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability
- Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
- Provide Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues
- Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
- Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company’s security team
- Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
- Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records.
Pay InformationFull-Time Salary Range: $107359 - $182510
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
