Amentum is seeking an experienced 2nd Shift Industrial Maintenance Technician III to join our team in Lafayette, IN!
Shift: 1:00 PM – 9:30 PM (hours may vary based on business needs)
Must be willing to work overtime when required.
In this role, you will provide intermediate‑level expertise in diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting industrial equipment and automated systems. This position supports equipment reliability and preventive maintenance within a large industrial environment. This is not a CNC operations role.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair industrial automated equipment and tools, including electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Identify and correct safety issues; perform independent equipment evaluations to prevent failures.
- Follow all established safety procedures including JHA, LOTO, and PPE requirements.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on industrial automated equipment using the CMMS system.
- Respond to work orders and communicate repair status, recommendations, and completed actions.
- Recommend measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance.
- Conduct root‑cause analysis on machine failures involving electrical controls, mechanical assemblies, software/logic issues, or product/process conditions.
- Read and interpret complex mechanical, electrical, and automated equipment schematics.
- Utilize diagnostic tools, test equipment, meters, laptops, and service software to complete repairs.
- Operate hand tools, laptop computers, and diagnostic hardware effectively and safely.
- Maintain schedule flexibility while prioritizing customer and production requirements.
- Provide general equipment and maintenance as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Manager or Supervisor.
Minimum Requirements:
- Industrial maintenance experience of 3 years or 2-year degree in industrial maintenance related curriculum or demonstrated equivalent.
- Experience maintaining buildings, facilities, or industrial equipment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to work in an aerial or scissor lift at heights up to 30 feet or higher.
- Ability to pass a pre‑employment substance abuse test.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States. U.S. Citizenship required for facility credentialing.
- Ability to obtain security access clearance at the client location.
- Ability to work overtime, various shifts, weekends, holidays, and alternative schedules as required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to climb extension ladders, roof ladders, stepladders, and stairs multiple times per shift.
- Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, reaching, rotating, and other repetitive movements.
- Ability to walk extensively throughout the plant.
- Ability to safely use a company/client‑approved utility knife.
- Ability to differentiate wire color‑coding.
- Ability to perform repetitive wrist motions.
- Ability to interact professionally with clients during periods of high stress.
Special Requirements:
- Must wear steel‑toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other required PPE.
- Must manage job‑related stressors and maintain acceptable performance standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree in industrial electrical or a related field.
- Experience working safely with 480V 3‑phase circuits.
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing electric motors and motor controls.
- Experience using PC‑based work order systems for task entry, closure, and time reporting.
Compensation Details:
$28..00 - $30.00
