PRINCIPAL OBJECTIVE OF POSITION: To manage the day-to-day second shift operations of health services facilities at the site and to coordinate the infirmary services. This position must comply with all security Guidelines, Environmental Health and Safety regulations and the current good manufacturing practices for the job function.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Schedules and completes the employee regulatory medical surveillance including new hire process.
- Maintains all regulatory examination (test) equipment under certification and calibration as requested by law.
- Provides first aid to occupational and non-occupational cases. Keeps emergency equipment under compliance with local and federal under compliance with local and federal regulations including but not limited to medicines review.
- Coordinates emergency transportation as needed. Keep updated and available the OTC (over the counter) medicine supply. Review on a monthly basis the medicine stock.
- Keep the medical supply updated and evaluate the new supply options and obsolete supply to be discarded.
- Maintains and documents medical records as requested by local and federal regulations.
- Establishes and complies with SOPs in the medical department.
- Provides guidance to employee to request and process medical leaves including but not limited to Sick Leave, Short Term Disability, SINOT (Seguro por Incapacidad No Ocupacional, CFSE (Corporacion Fondo Del Seguro Del Estado), ACCA (Administracion de Compensación por Accidentes de Automóviles and others.
- Provides activities to site on preventive health pursuing a healthy lifestyle (clinics, orientations, and exercises).
- Validates RTW (return to work) process of employee on sick leaves with IDS (Ikon Disability Services). Advises supervisors and managers when RTW is foreseeing.
- Attends occupational cases, managed them, and keep documentation as requested by BMS policies and OSHA regulations.
- Supports as needed the legal department, when required.
- Participates on safety and health site initiatives.
- Attends to all mandatory training meetings for cGMP's, EHS and Company Policies.
- Participates in special projects and during audits and regulatory inspections as required.
- Implements Company required medical screening and surveillance programs.
- Serves as a medical resource for addressing health related issues.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in nursing equivalent.
- Four (4) years of experience as occupational nurse with two years of experience on leaves management (SINOT, FMLA, FSE, ACAA) and case management
- Experience in Triage.
- PR Nurse License (Register RN License every 3 years).
- Computer literate (Word, Excel, Medgate or related system)
- Certification COHC (Certified Occupational Hearing Conservationist) and PFT (Pulmonary Functional Test) prefer.
- Excellent people skills, able to work under pressure.
- Ability to calibrate equipment for all regulatory monitoring practices.
- Ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationship with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- Self-motivated, creative and teamwork oriented.
- Able to exercise good judgement in special situations.
- Good organizing and planning skills.
- Work irregular hours or rotative shift when necessary
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Will be exposed to blood/body fluids and several diseases or individuals with infectious diseases, which if not handled with the adequate safety measures can lead to illness or injury to the incumbent.
- Must observed rigid guidelines to guard against disease and other dangers.
- Practically no exposure to disagreeable conditions.
- Minimum personal protective equipment (safety shoes, safety glasses and hard hat.) required.
- Requires movements of objects such as lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling. It involves body movements such as handling and fingering and patient movement
