Are you passionate about student success and building meaningful partnerships within the medical community? Join our team at CHCP as a Medical Assistant Externship Coordinator! In this vital role, you’ll connect aspiring Medical Assistants with high-quality externship opportunities that prepare them for real-world healthcare environments. You'll be responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with externship sites, monitoring student progress, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
This role is ideal for a motivated, organized, and student-focused professional with real-world healthcare experience who’s ready to make a difference in medical education—no teaching experience required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Secure and manage a network of externship sites for Medical Assistant students.
- Ensure a minimum of 40% extern-to-hire conversion rate across assigned sites.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor student performance and maintain relationships with extern partners.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and accreditation requirements, including TWC regulations.
- Collaborate with Career Services and Placement teams to transition externs into full-time employment.
- Counsel students on attendance, professionalism, and performance expectations during externship.
- Conduct externship orientations and support students with resume writing and interview preparation.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including timecards, evaluations, and affiliation agreements.
- Track student progress and ensure final evaluations and exit interviews are completed.
- Promote the program throughout the medical community via outreach and networking
Qualifications:
- At least 3+ years of practical experience in the medical assisting field.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential required.
- CPR certification preferred.
- No teaching experience required—just a passion for helping students succeed.
